Well, so to speak (Carlo!!! Why didn't I know of this before - from you ?!)
Italian Singer-Songwriter Elisa seems to make a second attempt to launch her international career with a new compilation for international markets, entitled Caterpillar!
The first attempt was the album "Elisa", released in 2002 with the single "Come Speak To Me". Like that one, "Caterpillar" is a compilation of songs from Elisa's entire catalogue. On this release, the focus is on the rather recent releases from albums such as "Lotus", "Pearl Days" and her Best Of, "Soundtrack '96-'06", which included several new songs (sung in Italian) and the single
Stay, supposedly it's about her father btw, which seems to have a German release on July 20th (although I didn't find anything on amazon.de about this).
The album is sheduled for a release in Germany (
klick), Austria, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Japan and Italy, and later in the year also for other countries like the US.
However, news on
elisatalk.com say that the actual release got postponed until September .
Tracklist:
01. Stay
02. Luce (Tramonti a Nord-Est)
03. Gli Ostacoli Del Cuore
04. Broken
05. Heaven Out of Hell
06. Qualcosa che non c'è
07. Swan
08. Eppure Sentire (Un Senso di Te) (Remix)
09. Electricity
10. Rainbow
11. Rock Your Soul
12. The Waves
13. Wild Horses
Now, the interesting thing for fans is: most of the tracks have been rearranged/remastered, for example: "Broken", "Heaven Out Of Hell" and "The Waves" are slightly different versions, "Swan" has a totally new sound..., "Gli Ostacoli Del Cuore" is without Ligabue (!) *I know a certain someone will be happy about this lol*, and "Electricity" is a 'plugged' version compared to the original version on "Lotus" - awesome I have to add!!!!!
And not only this: "Caterpillar" includes the Rolling Stones cover "Wild Horses" - a previously unreleased studio version (she already sang it live a couple of times).
The 'remix' of "Eppure Sentire" is not really a mix but the radio version of the song.
Critique:
A bit of a bad tracklist choice in my opinion. Not only that the album lacks some of her strongest and BEST English songs like "Dancing", "Teach Me Again", "Pearl Days", "Stranger" or "Labyrinth", they also put 4 Italian (!) songs on an international release - and one of them being the original version of her first international single which was sung in English !?! And on top, "Eppure Sentire" even got a (tremendous) English version, too O_o...I only can get sense out of this by concluding that they think that the Italian songs will sound 'exotic' to non-Italians ;)....
Anyhow, this album is nothing less but awesome because of the great rearrangements and the studio version of "Wild Horses". A must get, sooner or later :).
I so hope Elisa will be successful in Germany this time...and yeah, now I have the hope that she'll tour Germany in order to promote the album :). I wanna see her again...
