I just bought a Dell Latitude Laptop for my beautiful fiancee. She's very pregnant, and I don't think she's ready for the trauma associated with "switching".
I just realized that I got stiffed out of a snazzy Intel Core Duo sticker when I bought my Mac Mini.
Instead, what I got was an all-white Apple sticker thats just about the right size to fit over the grey Apple logo embedded into the also all-white plastic top. You know, in case I wasn't willing to admit that I had a Mac! These new intel things really are designed to run Windows XP/Vista, but maybe instead of just hiding the Apple under a concealer sticker, they could have been a little more positive:
Think how it could have been...
The apple logo here is actually just washed out by reflection,
not hidden by the white concealer sticker.
For what its worth, the Dell Laptop won't take a DHCP address from my Linksys router either, so its got that in common with the Mac Mini. There's nothing wrong with the router either, dozens of different people in the area connect to it and take DHCP addresses from it with no problem whatsoever.
UPDATE:
The Mac Mini was able to accept DHCP from the Linksys BEFSR11 after I had disabled IPv6 on the Mac. What the hell is that actually used for in the real world anyways?
The Dell Latitude D830 was able to accept DHCP from the Linksys BEFSR11 after I disabled Wireless G, which I guess I'm not using due to the router being a Wireless B device, but still, I wish the backwards compatibility were a little better - the "more compatible" option didn't seem to work.
UPDATE 2:
The Dell Latitude D830 downloaded its god-forsaken Windows Updates, which infected it with IPv6, and the motherfucking IPv6 killed its ability to get back online! Had to disable IPv6 - again, what the fuck is it even for?!? - and cold boot the fucking thing. Apparently this IPv6 problem isn't just a mac issue. Fuck IPv6.
