Lunch Box 270: Checkerboard potatoes

Dec 15, 2006 21:18

This lunch starts out with more of the free-form maki filled with avocado, artificial crab, cucumber, and cream cheese that I had yesterday. (I made several logs at once.) Next we have steamed broccoli, nothing new there. But then there are slices of baked Japanese sweet potato and baked purple sweet potato arranged in a checkerboardy pattern. Hey, why not? They taste similar, and the subtlety of the white tater highlights the audacious purpleness of the other. Finally, there are honeycomb-like chunks of pomegranate. I love pomegranate despite the amount of work it takes to get to the seeds, and the danger to one's wardrobe if one is wearing light colors.
