I’m reading less these days, and… I think I am okay with that. I put off my comics and read them at once when they’re all piled up, and I read any book I felt like whenever I felt like it, which ended up with me being in the middle of dozens of books now and taking longer to finish any of them. Which I am also okay with.
I think I’m a little tired of reading YA right now - particularly YA SF/F. I still enjoy cute YA romcoms, especially in between other books, but there were a lot of adult SF/F that I wanted to read this year that I didn’t get around to. Books like The Future of Another Timeline by Annalee Newitz, or Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir, or Middlegame by Seanan McGuire, or Lent by Jo Walton.
I suppose the main reason for that is that they’re so much more expensive than YA books, and the fact that I am no longer doing adult SF/F books at work so I have no work-related excuse to read them. So… this year, I’m trying not to let my work dictate my reading as much as I usually do.
