So I posted the next chapter of To Feel the Sun a few minutes ago, and directed people to check out this livejournal. It's completely unlocked, so don't worry about reading anonymously or anything, but I'll get around to adding everyone who wants to my friends list. Please comment if you're dropping by! I'd love to hear from you.
So I can tell To Feel the Sun is drawing to a close. There will be an epilogue, though. I didn't know how long I wanted this story to be, but it's firmly right where I guessed it would end up. A bit on the short side, more like a novella than anything. As it stands, it's already longer than an average NaNoWriMo novel.
I wrote maybe a chapter and a half (or a little less) in writing sprints last night. It was advertised a bit around
SKoW and
TaD. It was a lot of fun, and I was the clear winner (Hey Jules said I had bragging rights and I fully intend to exercise them! Not that I didn't BEFORE I was declared the winner). It was a lot of fun, and I can't wait to do it again, although I might not actually compete. I dropped out after the first rounds of word wars in NaNo, too, because I kind of outstripped people. I just write really fast, I admit. Though I kind of hope there's someone else as fast as me next time. That'd be fun.
I can't say enough how awesome it is that my little story is touching people so much. I've had reviews and PMs of people telling me how much their story means to them. I write for myself, that much is very true. But I can't lie and say it doesn't thrill me that when I share my writing, people love it. That to me says I'm doing something right. Ironically, To Feel the Sun wasn't a "serious" venture. It's something to kind of get away from my main summer novel. And it kind over took, though my summer novel is getting heavily written too, in between Oklahoma rehearsals and working.
I'm going to a Fourth of July party on Saturday, and I'm baking a cake. I'm dyeing the cake layers red, white, and blue (er, maybe not dyeing it white, but you catch my drift). I'll have to show pictures when I get it done. It should be pretty fun.
