jonghyun/jessica → pg-13, 343 words
“I did nothing wrong, Sooyeon, and you know it.”
“I saw you with her. My own eyes witnessed it. Don’t you fucking dare tell me that you did nothing wrong.”
“… You never listen to me.”
“I don’t see the point in listening, if everything you say are just lies.”
“They aren’t lies.”
“Oh, I’m sorry. I meant, bullshit.”
“Sooyeon…”
“Don’t call me that. You can’t call me that. I never allowed you to.”
“Fine, Jessica then.”
“What?”
“I just… want to let you know that I wasn’t doing anything with her. Yes, I was with her, and yes, I might have been a little too close and it might have looked like I was going to kiss her or something, but I wasn’t, okay? I’m sorry you have to waste your time with me like this. I’ll hang up first, since obviously we aren’t going anywhere like this.”
“Jonghyun, wait-”
She feels the tears rolling down her cheeks as the line goes dead, the cold, howling wind biting at her skin at she wraps the blanket around herself, thinking about how she would’ve had Jonghyun’s arms instead of the stupid blanket if she didn’t accuse him of something she wasn’t even sure he did.
“The boy didn’t commit a fucking crime, Jessica, you didn’t have to be so harsh on him,” Kibum comments from a corner, walking over to her and gathering her in his arms, fingers brushing her tear-stained cheeks.
These things happen too often for him to even be worried.
Jessica, on the other hand, wonders when Jonghyun will grow tired of her being easily jealous. Kibum’s soft murmuring that everything will be fine keeps her quiet for now, but she doesn’t know how long it will be before she goes around stirring up trouble again.
What she doesn’t know is that Jonghyun is willing to put up with her even when everything crashes and burns.
“Forever,” he whispers to himself, wishing he didn’t hang up because hearing her voice was the only thing that could keep him sane.
