[After River escapes death] Simon: River? Are you okay? River: I swallowed a bug.

My new icon is my own personal homage to the great actor Summer Glau a.k.a. River Tam. Oh yea and I hope you catch the A Clockwork Orange reference hee hee (i'm evil)

WARNING: NERD ALERT

Okay that was said because of the fact that I will admit something that many of you already know. I'm in love with the unfairly cancelled show Firefly. It used to be on Fox in 2002 and 2003 and was cancelled well before its time. (And it looks like Fox is back to its old tricks, they just cancelled Head Cases after 2 episodes)
But Firefly has had a chance to burn the sky again! The movie Serenity was released today. And let me tell you... IT WAS THE GREATEST MOVIE EVER MADE!!! No fucking joke!
It was filmed masterfully and the grace of Joss Whedon's (creator of Buffy) directorial and writing style shine brilliantly on the silver screen.
This movie is basically set in two sections instead of the show's signature three act style. Although this comes off even better. The first half reveals the assasin and how serious he is about getting to and possibly killing River Tam (Summer Glau). The very first scene shows her brother Simon rescuing her from the "hospital" where they were experimenting on her.
We are soon brought back into the present where Simon and his sister have taken refuge on the space-ship Serenity.
They encounter some nasty creatures called Reavers that will, according to Zoe in the Firefly series, "Rape you to death, eat your flesh, and wear the rest, and if we are very very lucky... they will do it in that order." So defiantely not someone to bring to a tea party.
Many secrets are revealed. The action sequences are amazing. And anyone who tells you otherwise is just retarded.
The comedy is fresh and often unexpected. The script is snappy and quick but the movie is full. There are no blank spots, no slow down, no speed up. This film goes at exactly the pace it should.
As much as I have said, there are no words that can do this movie justice.

Random Quote from Serenity:
Malcolm Reynolds: Dear Buddha, I'd like a pony and a plastic rocket.

That is just a very minor taste of the humor (often oddball but still hilarious and fitting) that this masterpiece showcases. So GO SEE IT AS SOON AS YOU CAN!!! SKIP SCHOOL IF YOU NEED TO!!! TELL YOUR PARENTS I SAID IT WAS OKAY!!!

And I will be back tomorrow with another rant involving yet another science fiction series.
