As long as it is a friendly ghost. Bilbo obviously wasn't scared of it what ever it was:)

They are friendly and helpful - when we first moved in, they somehow managed to turn off the gas taps to the gas heater/boiler. Certainly saved us a potentially serious problem.

Helpful ghosts, that is good.

Not so helpful if they wake Bilbo who wakes you though.

Oooooo! How cool! Do you have any idea who the ghost might be? With a house as old as yours, you literally have hundreds of years of occupation to choose from.....not to mention whatever was on your house site previous to that.

When I was in college, I had a cat who could see the ghost that lived (query: do ghosts really LIVE anywhere?) on the stairway outside my apartment and would meow at it (I think it was a her) and come and tell me about it when it was active.

I have suspicions on one of them. My sister when she lived here had her bedroom where the bathroom is now. She was woken up during the night and saw a little old lady standing at the bottom of the bed looking at her intently. The lady nodded to Nicky and said "You will do!" and dissolved into the air. We think she is the most recent - a Miss Free who lived here about 20 years back.

I have seen two in my bedroom on one of the nights when Edmund was late home. I woke up and found the room was a bit different. One window was not present and the other window was hidden behind wooden shutters. Part of wall was missing and the room extended into the one next door to it (which is now separated by a chimney stack). The only "separation" was a heavy drape. The ceiling extended right up to the roof and. There was a settle (that apparently I was curled up on) and a couple of low stools and benches and a chest or two. A lady in a long long dress was standing in the middle of the room with her back towards me, her head covered with a white veil/ ( ... )
