In Memory of a Wonderful Friend

May 27, 2005 02:25

A great friend of mine from high school and college passed away yesterday. This guy was truly a blessing to know. He was born with a very very rare skin disorder that caused him to be in a wheel chair all of his life. His skin was irritable that he had to be rapped in layers upon layers of guase and bandages. You could not touch Kurt due to the skin condition. This condition was extremely painful. But, besides all of the pain and suffering that he went through, I never saw Kurt without a smile. He didn't get to attend classes, he was home schooled through our Junior year, just coming by the school to visit and for special functions. Then our Senior year rolled in and Kurt attended the entir year with us. It was really great seeing him everyday and talking to him. He is in the Guiness Book of World Records for the most keychains in a collection with over 24,000 that were non-duplicates. All-in-All he had about 50,000 keychains. He was also the oldest living person with the skin condition that he had. It was truly an honor knowing Kurt. His love and zest for life was like none other. He was a hero to all of us who attended school with him. He taught us to never give up. He was elected Prom King ou senior year, and he honestly received every vote. I was there the night he received the Prom King honors. It was truly a spectactular moment and I am blessed to have been able to share in that. He taught the class of 1998 more about life and caring than anybody ever had or ever will. Kurt was an inspiration and a light to everyone who knew him. I will miss him dearly. Please read his obituary and look at the picture that is listed with it at the link below. Kurt, I love you man.....and thanks for the memories.
