did we live before the microwave? i remember when my dad bought one for my mom, i think i was like 12. yes i know many people had them way before that, but my family didn't have much money when i was growing up. any who, it wasn't one of those high powered ones either-no microwave popcorn for us. but that's ok we had an air popper. that thing lasted our family quite some time and then went with V and i when we lived together. it got to the point we started calling it ol'sparky...as a joke cuz it would spark every so often when we'd use it. then one day as i was doing the dishes it sparked from the wall and the inside and nothing was in it and it wasn't turned on. so i quick dried my hands and unpluged it, off to the dumpster it went. now the microwave that i got to replace it is the one that just died. can i just say how sick i am of pb & j on a rice cake? i actually cooked up what food i had yesterday and made a big vat of...something. there is no word for what it is. sucky part is now i have no way to heat it up, i guess we'll see how it tasts cold out of the fridge.
