So...its been quite a while since I last updated, not a ton of things have changed...I'm still alive and all of that jazz so thats always an upside haha. I think it finally hit me just recently that I had actually graduated from college. It's pretty crazy to look back now from the day I started college thinking "wtf am i going to do" and "how can i make it through"...its just...amazing to take a step back away from yourself and look to see how much you've grown...quite amazing, but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger I spose.
All I've been doing lately is working my ass off...I even somehow end up working on my days off at times, but I'm salary so I don't get overtime, but it'll pay off in one way or another. I love my job at the bank though, I honestly couldn't ask for a better job. I know everyone thinks I'm crazy for saying that, but it isn't you "normal" bank environment...its actually fun.
Hrm what else is new...oh yea! Jessie and myself are FINALLY getting a house! Thats right...a house!...not a rental, not an apartment, but our own home. We're both so incredibily excited about it ...its pretty insane. We close on it exactly a week from today and will probably be moving into it a few days later hopefully. She's going back to school now, so it makes it a little rougher right now not being able to see her everyday, but it is what we have to live with for another week I spose. And yes, we are moving into the house before we get married lol. So many people have asked us if we were and I'm just like "uhh yea!" So two big days for us are now Sept 9th, and Dec. 10th....woo hoo! House and marriage, I couldnt be more excited :).
In the wake of what happened with hurricane Katrina though, I'd like to share a story that happened to myself yesterday. You know we watch this type of stuff on TV, but usually we never have to actually see or deal with these people who may need help in some form. Well, yesterday when I was at work...a lady and her husband came into Wal-Mart and tried to use our ATM...her card wasn't compatible with our ATM so she asked me where other banks were around at. So I told her the surrounding banks, then she proceeded to tell me they were from Mississippi and evacuated up here (guess they had family, or just somehow found Eden). She then proceeded to tell us that her parents and grandparents stayed behind and everytime they talked the only words they ever really heard were them screaming "help us" because they had not eaten in 36 hours...you could tell it took the lady everything she had not to burst into tears. Needless to say...I didn't know what to say and neither did anyone else who was working with me. Well, long story short...they bought about $2,000 worth of gatorade, snackfoods, water, etc. from Wal-Mart and were going to load it up on a UHaul and take it back home to MS. Well come to find out, the UHaul place wont let them rent a Uhaul because if you cross the MS border with more than I think it was 100 gallons of fuel, they would consider you a terrorist and you would be arrested on the spot...so they took 2 trucks (guess they were theres) and loaded up all of the stuff, and of course a few Wal-Mart employees, myself, and another person from the bank volunteered to help. Guess the point of my story is, you never know what is going to happen day to day and how you may be involved in another persons life just the slightest bit, but how thankful they can be for it. I guess it never really hit any of us that hard watching it on TV compared to an actual person being in front of you from that area who is doing everything in her power to get food to her loved ones. It was just....fairly emotional for all of us. Just wanted to share my story with everyone because it hit me pretty hard and deep.
That is all for now.
