Liberty < Safety?
I was watching Fox News tonight and I realized how stupid people are. They were discussing the issue of wire taps. A tool of intelligence that would fundamentally means all of us are guilty, or at least treat us that way. What disturbed me was that fact that people thought that it was a good idea. They thought this because as long as it is for our safety and security it is justified. It was Benjamin Franklin that stated "Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." This makes sense as we would be safe from the "terrorist", but then we would be giving more power and control to the government...... Then, how long can we assure that we are safe from them?................................
Our forefathers designed a nation for the people. As time has progress we have become ignorant. We have forgot what is like to live without freedom. Like spoiled children with no value of work and accomplishment. We are willing to give our liberty so that we can have a false blanket that hides the troubled world from our eyes. I fear that I will live in a day were we are no longer free.
