Don't mind if I do.
Going up north was the best thing for me...it helped me get over my DSO slump. I just love it there...I love my hammock, I love my property, I love the trees. OK OK OK! I just love it all.
So I finally met our neighbors...someone new bought the plot adjacent to the two of ours a couple years ago. He came over to see if we needed any help moving the tree that fell across the driveway over the winter...it turns out that Dad and I were fully capable of taking care of that bad boy ourselves...however it was nice to finally meet the guy.
Then I went through my normal first trip up checkings...checked out a majority of the blueberry bushes, the raspberry/blackberry plants, my hammock trees...then OF COURSE I wanted to go check on the apple tree, but it's way down at the bottom of the back plot so I opted to climb on top of the trailer and poke around up there and just have Dad drive me to the tree on our way to town. So we fussed around with the tarp and timed the water pump...and all the rest of the boring yet neccessary utility nonsense. Then FINALLY it was time to go and check on my crazy ass old apple tree. Now mind out you our property is on the corner of two 'roads' and the back of it is on the outer edge of the estate...so it really does end...at the dead end. We're driving along and checking out the outer perimeter of the land and then...there...in the middle of the road are two tiny little puppies! Of course I'm all, "AWWWWWWWW!" but we naturally don't get out of the car. (There are wild dogs up there...and I didn't particularly feel the need to be attacked by an irate mother doggie.) So we continue on our journey to the tree...it was all old and shit. This will prolly be the last year for apples. (I've said that every year since I was like 13...but really, this might be the end of it.) Then on our way back to the 'road' we saw them again. THEY WERE SOOOOO CUTE! So I told Pops to stop the car so I could take a picture. And I was like, "Come here, little guy!" to one of them and they came RUNNING up to the car. Then Dad and I decided that a) they weren't afraid of humans and b) no crazed wild dog had come leaping out of nowhere to try to rip my face off...so they must have be abandoned by people!!! Which makes me SO mad...these little guys were seriously starving. Their ribs were all kinds of sticking out and the one little guy was eating a stick! Like not chewing on it like a normal dog...but EATING IT! So we picked them up and took them with us. There is no way two tiny little puppies who are to young to be on their own could have made it all the way down there by themselves. So we asked around at the lots where there were people, no one knew anyone that was missing puppies...so now we have them. Forever. I love them. My mom named them Chip and Dale. Dad and I figured if we tricked mom into naming them, then she'd have to let me keep them...and it worked. We went to her camp for the sole purpose of tricking her into it. The cats all seem to get along with them ok. So everything is great.
I'm really, REALLY excited for when we go back up. Dan (our new neighbor) said that there hasn't been a lot of deer activity on the land this year...which is a good thing, because a LOT of the berry bushes still have a shitload of green berries on them. And they will most likely be ripe when I go back up in 2 weeks. It's gonna be great. I love it up there so much. You guys have no idea. I'm like normal happy Krissy times 20. I'm not even kidding. If I could go without shopping and all the normal things I love to do in the city...and I weren't the biggest paranoid freak on the face of the earth...I would live there. So the 21st through the 26th I'm going to be up there...anyone who wants to partake, come on up. Email me for a map. It's the best.
