sometimes i really hate this town

Jan 19, 2008 20:12

it's saturday night.
in part due to my occasional struggles with weird telephone shyness, in part due to my desire to make the desert castle more livable, i planned on mostly hanging out here and finishing off my bed and my chandeliers. thus, i would be *that much* closer to making my room into the opium den of my dreams.
i needed sheets for my BRAND NEW GIANT COMFY BED (come sleepover and see for yourselves) since i have none, and i needed some glitter and some spray paint, and some other crafty art and construction supplies.

today i assembled my new bed all by myself, and drunk with power, decided i would tackle some other small construction projects i have kicking around. i needed to go buy stuff.
rather easy, one might think.
ry and megs left to go out for dinner, they offered me a drive to the mall on their way out, just before 5:30pm.
"no thanks, i'm not quite ready, and anyway i will just take the bus there and back." the bus would be much less of a hassle i thought to myself.
i got my stuff together, checked my bank balance, considered my budget and the size of my bed and made to leave.
the #72 bus stops by the corner of silverberry and 33rd ave (my street) and then goes to either millgate transit station, or to millwoods transit station, depending on what side of silverberry road you wait on. millwoods town centre is just steps away from millwoods transit station. it would be a quick 10 minute bus ride from here to the local mall.

IF THE GODDAMN BUS RAN AFTER 6PM ON SATURDAYS!!!
it was just about 6pm that i had popped online briefly, knowing the bus comes every half hour and not wanting to be stuck outside (it's -16 currently) waiting for a half hour. then i discovered that the bus only runs until 6pm.
WTF!!!
i have now spent the last hour trying to figure out if and how i can take a bus to millwoods. see, the 68 and 69 busses run past the corner of 34th and silverberry road. perhaps, i could walk the kilometer out and catch one. but no, those busses only run once every hour after 6pm, and since i missed the 6:59 one, the next bus isn't until 7:59, which would get me to mill woods at 8:10, leaving me 50 minutes to shop before the mall closed. then i'd need to haul my ass outside in time to catch the bus at 9:10 for the return trip, or be stuck waiting until 10:10.

so no construction art projects or sheets for me.
IT'S THE LOCAL FUCKING TRANSIT CENTRE, WHY CAN'T THE BUSSES RUN THERE AFTER 6 PM?? OR MORE THAN ONCE AN HOUR!! THE MALL IS OPEN UNTIL 9! THE LIBRARY IN THE MALL IS OPEN UNTIL 9!

so i am stuck in the desert castle. no mall for this kitten, despite being in edmonton, the land of malls. the mall is only about 5 km away, i could probably walk if it wasn't so cold.
