It's different for everyone. Some people do it because it does relieve pain. I know I handle physical pain a hell of a lot better than I handle emotional, so sometimes turning the emotional pain into physical pain changes how you look at things. I'm not condoning cutting, because it's a serious problem, but you can't dismiss it as something stupid or "bullshit" either. I think it's bullshit to dismiss it that quickly. I've seen too many people be affected by it, largely because of people's apathy towards it.

Anyway, I digress. My point is, I was addressing Erin specifically since it was her post, and I was reacting to what she said. Initially, I wasn't addressing you at all, seeing as I really don't even know who you are, so I don't get why you got defensive over me supposedly having a problem with what you said/thought. Prior to your comment, I had no idea how you felt. I have no problem whatsoever with you voicing your opinion, and I think I made that pretty clear. I just don't like being bitched at because I feel differently than you do. I disagree with you, but no way in hell does that mean I don't respect your view.
