Praying for a Friend

This week has been a little too crazy for my liking, but the good news is it is gradually getting better.

I walked into work first thing Monday to find out that my friend Mirvet had suffered a stroke the night before. As Mirvet is only 36 and is in good health from what I understood, this shocked me and scared me a bit. I planned to go to the hospital to visit her after work until news came in later that day that the reason she had the stroke was the doctor's discovered a brain tumor. After finding this out, I had basically lost it and had a hard time getting myself to settle down. With the enormous headache that followed, I ditched the idea of going to see her, and instead planned to go see her on Friday night after work (still do).

I didn't do well on Friday night. I came home and battled my headache for a good portion of the evening and I battled to keep food down. It was possible it was a mild migraine, but it eventually let up and I headed to bed early after reading a couple of pages from my book.

The next morning I woke up feeling better, but still worried. I got to work waiting to hear news, and the first thing I heard from Tiffany is that word of mouth is a load of crap. It turns out Mirvet doesn't have a brain tumor, but it was a blood clot that caused the stroke. This relieved me to find out as this is much easier to handle than a tumor.

I also heard from a couple of people who went to visit her that she is doing very well and a lot of the feeling in her body is back, though it's still a bit sensitive. She's able to walk, use the rest room on her own...I guess the worst problem is she's still trying to get the feeling in her face back, so she occassionally catches herself drooling. But otherwise she's her same ol' beautiful self.

Anyways, I'm hoping for a smoother week from here on out. It's been a bit crazy with Mirvet being in the hospital, a couple of people being out for various reasons, and Kevin and Jim being on vacation all week. But as it's Hump Day, I'm hoping to get over that hill and bring the weekend on with a bit of peace. On Friday night I'm going to visit Mirvet and take her a little care package, and I'll stay the night at Mom's. On Saturday morning I have a massage scheduled and I think I'll do the gym soon after. Saturday night I'm determined to go see Harry Potter and the Half~Blood Prince. That'll make my weekend very nice.
