Getting Down to Business

Jun 13, 2009 10:08

I'm waking up this morning with Foster perched over my shoulder, sleeping on the couch in the living room, watching HDTV, with the prospect of food being quite imminent. The Wings lost last night, which left me bummed, but I'm trying to look on the bright side...the Tigers are doing great, and now I can focus on them more. Plus I put together my new desk while watching the game. Pete's mom, Debbie, bought me a new drafting desk from Ikea for my birthday that was on Monday. And with Pete's promise of paint for my birthday present, I've started redoing the second bedroom to be my office/sanctuary.

I put one coat of paint on after a major clean out this past week. The closet was still packed with stuff we didn't need/use from the move and just a ton of stuff that should have gone in the attic to begin with. I pulled the old desk out and put it in the shed for my boss Chris and her three kids. It's still in great shape (just a bit of teething marks on one leg from Macy) and I didn't want it to go to waste. So she's going to take it soon for when her kids hit their schooling years.

My plan is to get a good bookcase in there for all of my old books, repaint and get new knobs on the old dresser (which was actually from my nursery as a baby), and eventually get a nice comfortable chair and ottoman to relax in there. Add some cork boards and accessories, and I'll be set.

Time to hit the road! I'll post before and after pictures soon!
