Excuses, excuses!

Feb 08, 2005 09:34

Today is the 39th day of 2005, and I realise that I have made a total of only TWO posts to my lj. And out of the 38 other days, I have probably thought about posting on at least 30 occasions. Boy do I feel guilty! But I have excuses. One day I wrote an amazingly insightful comment, and it just "disappeared" (so no-one will ever know just how insightful it really was!). One day I wrote something, but when I re-read it before posting, I realised that it wasn't worth writing, so I deleted it.
So what sort of excuses can I make to myself? Strangely enough, holidays are to blame. Yes, it's true! A lot of the things I do go into recess during the school holidays, and so it would seem that this is when I should have more time to spare. And that is the problem. Because I'm busy during term time, there are all sorts of things that I promise myself to "do in the holidays". We did take young relatives swimming and to the local rock-climbing centre; we did visit relatives; I did wash all the curtains, windows and window sills (one of my least favourite jobs, but now I don't have to do it for a while). I even cleaned the filters on the air-conditioner and the exhaust fans. I did THINK about doing some gardening. I did clean a bit more of the spare room/office. But I didn't do a single page in my photo album (took a lot of photos, so I am even further behind-completed up to September so far). I listened to a lot of music, but didn't watch any films, and haven't done any reading apart from the newspaper. I didn't do any fitness "stuff"; well it's mid summer here, and most days it has been terribly hot, and the rest of the time we have endured torrential storms (last Wednesday we had 55mm = more than 2" of rain in 12 hours; we still have water restrictions because the dams are only at 42% capapcity, but the drought might be breaking). We have told Barnados that we can only have school aged children during term, but we had three children last week for four days; aged 4,2,1 and mum is in hospital with a new-born; she's a braver woman than I! And their dad is in prison since October and for a few more weeks at least, so she is on her own from this week with four pre-schoolers. I don't envy her at all!!!!
But last week, school resumed. My Thursday Bible study resumed last week; my Monday craft group started again yesterday; the Tuesday scripture class I teach starts next week. Back to fitness training tonight. Now I'm officially busy, hopefully, I'll have more time. I'll try anyway
