Here are a few of our Tasmanian photos:
This is the Lilydale falls near Launceston, just a quiet little spot off the main road, nothing mentioned in the tourist books, but we loved it!

The tallest mountain in Tasmania is Cradle Mountain-the lake is Dove Lake and if it looks as though the mountain isn't very tall, that's because the lake is a long way above sea level-we followed some very narrow and winding roads to get there

The Pencil Pine falls are in the Cradle Mountain National Park, just near Dove Lake

We went to Port Arthur which was a particularly vicious prison from 1830 to the 1860s. About 12 years ago, a man opened fire and killed about 35 visitors and staff, which has brought a new horror to the name. The Church was burnt out late in the 19th century-there is a small church adjacent which is used for regular worship, but I was really taken with this view.

My great, great, great grandmother, Harriet, and her second husband Robert Jones built and owned the Midlands Hotel from 1859. It isn't used as a hotel any more, but is an important building-from the steps the municipality of Oatlands was proclaimed. Rumour had it that Robert had bribed the road builders to curve the road at the front of the building so travellers would be closer to the Midlands than to the competing Oatlands hotel on the opposite side of the road.

Robert and Harriet's daughters owned Elm Cottage-they ran a school here and when Robert and Harriet each died, their funerals left here for the Church.

It's just a taste of Tasmania. I do have a few more photos on the film I haven't finished yet, and Robert has heaps on his digital, but I'm not game to touch it in case I get it wrong!
