He's been chilling in his apartment doing... well he's been doing something. What this something is becomes glaringly obvious when you see the 'help desk' he's set up in the Marshall lobby ( Read more... )

[Here, have a young girl walking around aimlessly around the building. She eventually makes her way to the lobby, taking notice of the sign.]

Very much. I'll look over your style, language, grammar and mechanics, and if we have enough time, your story's plot as well.

[ ... ] It's a highly in demand service, you see.

Really? I didn't think many people here had an interest in writing...

I'm sure many people do, they're just too shy to share it.

Hehe, maybe...

[Which she definitely is, but it couldn't hurt to try, right?] W-Well, I have been trying to write a story of my own...

Pull up a chair, then. My first consultation is free.

[ and even patting the empty chair seat... just in case Chihiro needs more motivation ]

I'll help you sort that story out.

O-Okay. [She sits down, and if it's next to England she is more nervous than ever. What is talking to people.]

[ it's across the table so England can do his thing *_* ]

Starting is the hardest part, isn't it? I can't give you an idea or tell you how to write your story, but I'll direct you along.

[ and putting the papers of his horror story under the table ]

What sort of stories do you like?

Are there any you prefer more than others? Fairytales, perhaps? Or stories with magic, knights, dragons and strong-willed princesses?

[ you can tell from the way he gets into the last one that it's his personal favourite ]

Knights... [Unfortunately that is more of her not-really-boyfriend's kind of thing.]

They sound nice, too, but um... I like stories that take you far away. The ones where you don't think about reality anymore and focus on the story.

I'm very fond of those as well.

[ a slight pause ]

All good books should do that, I think. They should take you to a world where everything is perfect and good things always happen and the hero always triumphs.

That would be nice, wouldn't it? If things always ended up perfect and well...

There needs to be a bit of conflict, a source of rising action. The protagonist needs to win, but the victory is always more thrilling when he triumphs over another character.

Another character... [She's mulling over the thought. Having another character seems... difficult, for some reason.]

They don't have to be a villain, but they need to be disreputable in some way.

[ ... ] Even if it's a charming, roguish way.
