Anyone ever read "Skinny Bitch"? Very disturbing.
I realize that the purpose of the book (or, at least the desired end result) is that the reader becomes vegan. Is it awful that, though I am horrified by the treatment of animals on some farms, I just can't completely give up meat?
DH and I have been talking and we've decided to cut back on our meat consumption. Surely, if what we're eating now is bad, it would stand to reason less would be better even if we can't stop completely. Um, right? We have also decided that, since our intake will be reduced, we can afford to buy the expensive organic meat that comes from trusted sources.
Add this new decision to the almost as new decision to be gluten free and I think I might just get to be a skinny bitch- mostly because there'll be nothing to eat and I'll be cranky about it.
Meanwhile, I've been doing the Weight Watcher's Core program which seems to fit in just fine to these new ideas about how I want to be eating and how I want to live. My first weigh in was this past Tuesday and I lost 6 pounds! I was completely in shock that eating healthy foods and minding my body's signals of hunger and fullness could result in weight loss. Who'da thunk it? :-p
We are still saving and saving for the Czech Republic. Now, over 60% of the way there. We're excited that we're making it happen. I'm happy too that all this diet change comes before we go and, hopefully, in enough time to give us the best chance we can have for success there.
So, in case you were wondering where I'm at, that's where I am- simultaneously reading "Skinny Bitch", "Never be Fat Again" (which is coauthored by a client of mine! How exciting! I have an autographed copy!!) "The Gluten Connection", "Smart Women Finish Rich" and, in a random addition, a few books of Amish Fiction. I loves me some Amish Fiction.
