So it still was the longest flight I’ve ever been on but between the bright purple blankets, anime safety instructions before takeoff, free little gray socks and a toothbrush for the ride, and the two empty seats next to me, it turned out not as bad as I was expecting.
Now in Shanghai with not much more than my laptop and the clothes in my tiny duffle bag, I am more than looking forward to the market where I will by ridiculously inexpensive imitations of everything I have ever been too cheap to buy at home.
Note: never order vegetarian meals on a Chinese flight, they give you a single plate of cooked vegetables to hold you over for 12 hours.
