Night Off, GgeonncannonFebruary 14 2011, 19:50:31 UTC
Ashley didn't realize what a change Kate's presence made until the night when, ordinarily, it would have been all hands on deck. Henry had to fiddle with the EM field, her mother was drowning in paperwork, and there was a pick-up at the docks. She was halfway prepared when Will told her that he would be taking the new girl to give her some field experience. At first she was irritated, but then she realized it was a night off. In a world with werewolves, witches and mermaids, a relaxing day was the only real myth she still didn't believe in.
She changed into her pajamas and found some crappy reality show on television to bore herself to sleep. The Big Guy made popcorn for her. She checked her email.
It was barely an hour after Will and Kate had left before Ashley reached her breaking point. She changed back into her "mission clothes" and headed out to the docks. She arrived in time to see a pallet of boxes explode as something impacted it from the water-side. Ashley revved her bike's engine and moved to intercept the dark moving object. She drove along the loading docks of the warehouse and spotted Kate running toward the disturbance. She whistled and Kate stopped, and Ashley pulled close enough for Kate to hop onto the bike.
"Glad you decided to show up."
"I thought I'd see if you guys needed a little help."
Kate smiled and pointed at the disturbance. Ashley nodded, revved her engine, and raced toward the sound of growling and Will's discharging weapon. As she swung around the side of the boxes, Ashley grinned.

Lazy nights in were way overrated anyway.
