Code Monkey - Line Spacing for Fic

May 27, 2008 13:26

What I did on my weekend vacation...learn Word document code from [ Brate ] . It's weird but it makes me happy, and it's useful for saving fic in a Word document to make it look nice, or to post fic up so that it's spaced right automatically by the "replace" command. In other words, how to cut and paste stuff from online to offline, and back again, and make the fic spacing look good.

Open Microsoft Word. Paste text from internet into new document (or type new fic).

Then...

STEP 1. SELECT ALL--> change from Normal (Web) to NORMAL

STEP 2. SELECT All & then Edit--> Find--> Replace-->(fill in) Replace What & Replace With:

1. Regular indented paragraphs --> Double Spaced (best for posting):

^p^t
^p^p

2. Manual line breaks --> double space between paragraphs. (in reveal code you see a bent arrow)

^l^l
^p^p

3. Manual line breaks --> indentend paragraphs. (in reveal code you see a bent arrow)

^l^l
^p^p

4. One big paragraph --> indented paragraphs.

^p
^p^t

5. One big paragraph --> double space between paragraphs.

^p
^p^p

6. If double spaces between doesn't work, and there is something between each paragraph. Paragraph, anything there, paragraph --> indented paragraphs.

^p^?^p
^p^t

(Note: Use [shift + 6] to make ^ the mountain character)

fic, computer, writing
