My day wasn't exactly as blissful as I'd planned it out to be, but it wasn't a bust. Mike and I headed out to Brush Creek Park for our bike rides. We headed out separately, me on the road, and him on the trails. Sadly, I didn't get very far. Im so disappointed and embarrassed with myself. The seat hurt my lady parts SO badly (like, my pelvic bone in that area - does anyone have any advice for this?), my knees were hurting, and I was out of breath. I was so upset with myself that I nearly broke down in tears. I knew I was out of shape but... wow. But rather than saying "Forget this!" I decided that I will just do a little bit each time and soon enough I'll be able to do the whole thing and more. So I sat by the pond and read my book while I waited for Mike to finish his ride. He came back and we sat there for a little bit, just enjoying nature. We saw a beaver, and we heard this CRAZY loud noise that sounded like a monster-moose, lol. After that we came home, and I fixed us lunch. Then he left to go help park cars at the festival (the fire dept. was in charge of that). I tried to get in a nap, and then got ready for the festival. We ate and walked around and... it seemed kind of lame compared to years before. I dunno, it just wasn't as great as it usually is. So we left and came home and were going to relax and make drinks and do fireworks. And then his mom called. She wanted him to come home because he was gone all day. *sigh* I know he's their only child and whatnot but they are SO clingy and over-protective. He does SO much for his family, he makes it a point to eat dinner with them nearly every night and he mows their yards every week. He is 26, he SHOULD be spending whole days having fun doing what he wants to do, spending time with the woman he loves. So he said he'd come home (argh!) but before he left, he and I had a BIG talk about it. It was good. He's going to talk to them. I think one of the reasons they are like that too is because THEY dont do ANY thing. Maybe if they went out to eat or did some other fun things together, they would understand a little better. Im kind of bummed out to be spending a Friday night, the 4th of July, alone (well, with my sister), but we had a good day together and the issue is (hopefully) going to be resolved.
here's the park we went to today:
please excuse my lack of makeup!
I found an inchworm... on Mike! lol
I went with Mike to put his gear back at the fire dept.... it was the first time I've seen it. Seeing his name on his coat seriously made my heart swell with pride.
me in his helmet
Tomorrow I think Im going to a flea market (yay fake designer handbags!), and then back to the festival with Katie and Amanda. Then its date-night with Mike<3
OMG! I just finished watching "The Music Man" on Turner Classic Movies (yes, Im a nerd), and now "1776" is on, another favorite! Two perfect 4th of July movies!
