Went to see "Sky High" this weekend and the very best thing about it was the trailer for "Goblet of Fire". Rupert's hair is very long and very red and my heart just about stopped.... !!!!!!! And the guy who played "Warren Peace" in "Sky High" was just my type, too - dark, interesting mouth, and long dark hair. Seems to be a theme here, these days.
On more mundane subjects, I stir fried a couple pounds of fresh green beans today with garlic, a bit of garlic macadamia oil, a splash of olive oil and a dash of sugar. Even Kevin ate them with gusto! now that I know I can make them easily at home, I won't have to spend $6 to go the Chinese buffet. I'm a bad cliche - fat chick at the all-you-can-eat restaurant. Until I lose considerable weight, buffets are OFF LIMITS. I acquired a virtual Weight-Watchers buddy, let's see if that makes a difference.
Starting to get excited about the upcoming trip to Florida for Mom & Dad's 50th wedding anniversary plus Stephanie's 7th birthday party plus my own 29++ birthday party and Karen's new job party .... think we're going to have a PARTY, maybe? Well, it is now August, after all, which is the official start of the holiday season. Doesn't end until Valentine's day ... or was that St. Patrick's?
On the adoption front, we're talking to the social workers about two separate sibling groups, either of which could be a possibility for enhancing our family. Kevin, naturally wants the set of FOUR brothers, aged 8, 7, 5, and 3, and says I can keep the three-year old, he'll play with the other ones. I'm not sure what will happen, but we're talking. John thinks I'm insane, but ... well, maybe I am. :)
School is starting this month for me as well - I signed up for 15 credits, and decided with everything else that is going on and might be coming up before the end of the year, I probably should drop one class. The class I decided to drop is the next English class - I figure it'll be easy for me to get this class knocked out wherever we wind up, I'd rather have the other ones under my belt before we leave here. I ordered the books for the online psychology, history and computer classes, and the algebra book I used in the spring term is used for the next algebra class (the one I'm actually going onto campus for). Since KET gave me her scientific calculator, too, that's $200 I DON'T have to spend this term. I tried to drop the English class online and got a message that I can't drop it, so I have to wander over to the college sometime this week and see what the heck their problem is. The algebra class really needs to be the priority, since I have to get a "C" in that in order to advance to the level of algebra that's actually going to count towards my eventual degree. I have a 4.0 average right now, all of what, nine credits? No, actually, I think only six count toward my degree. **sigh** inching toward graduation. Having FIVE boys (six if you count John) in the house will probably slow that down even more.
John has been attempting to straighten out my finances, between my checkbook and two credit cards... it's pretty scary. Good thing he loves me.
Well, we shall see what the new season brings. Now I gotta go.
