Yep, all the fancy houses, and the fancy things available these days is nice but when you come down to it the memories we build in a home and the little odd things of an older home make it special and unique. Not saying we should let our homes get run down and out of shape, we can fix them up and keep them happy just like that. But, to move away from the memories is hard and hurts. About 2 years ago we inherited a fancy nancy house with all the fun stuff but, in the end we decided to sell and keep the house we have memories in. We would have liked to move to that house it had bedrooms on two ends like your wanted and 4 bathrooms so we when my huge family comes to visit they would not be under foot as much. But, in the end we decided to stay in our home with memories even though not large and spacious and with all the extra bathrooms and such. My hardest part would be leaving out gardens I have spent so much time and energy with my Pat planting and planning our gardens we have a pretty nice set up with that. But, than fate happens the house across the street we always liked which is small like our house came up for sale. Pat has lots of memories at that house as well, the couple who lived in it were in it for 68 years and they both passed away and were like second parents to my partner and they accepted me when I came along as well. So we took the money from selling the big house and bought this house. so now we have a place for my family to stay across the street and we kept all the memories and well, some people say you are nuts owning two houses across from one another. The taxes and insurance are 1/2 of what they would have been on that big old cold feeling house. So it was a good deal and my family comes more often than before so it has worked out real nice. In fact I best get over and run the vacuum my cousin and his wife are coming for 4 days since they just had a new baby and I'm excited to see them. This way too the baby can cry all night but I'm across the street. Yipee. So good things do come to those who love. Joe

Hank and Ed probably should fix the old place up a little more - (without losing those physical dents dings that keep those memories alive so well) - Maybe adding the new bedroom on will inspire them.

Sure can understand why you wouldn't want to leave your garden either - they are a labor of love that takes time to get established and then over all that time they grow and thrive and develop a wonderful character all their own.

LOVE that you were able to buy the house across the street for guests! That is the absolutely perfect set up (especially for crying babies). Must be fun to get so many visitors! (Hank would LOVE more visitors...) Have a great time with your cousin and his wife and the new baby!
