"Them other" postcards will be posted, fairly soon, I hope. Have a different idea for posting them that I hope you will enjoy. ;) Will post more of the regular ones first 'cause they're almost ready to go.
P.S. Just wanted to let you know many animal shelters in small towns out West are not as careful as their bigger city counterparts. Even these days, you can just walk in with $40, or whatever, and walk right out with a dog or cat, no questions asked.
Another great chapter!! That 'which truck' conversation was great. and i do like bill (glad hes not one of those homophobes out there. It's kinda sad though that Ed still has to look around b4 he kisses his man, glad he did though in the end :) "So ugly figured no one’d ‘dopt him. ‘N Betty down at the shelter said he was next up fer execution anyways. Couldn’ let tha’ happen." Ed and his big ol' heart, gotta love him for that! great idea to let Hank get the 'ugliest dog' to match Ed's 'second ugliest dog' lol "“Think they’re even uglier when they stand righ’ next ta each other. Tha’ possible?”" that's not nice to say Hank!! ;) "But you ain’t never even seen the movie.” Howcome he didn't see the movie? he needs to... I know with his kinda paranoid theorie and all but he needs to watch the movie since its bout part of his life with hank!! "Ain’t our real names." ok, so what are their real names? love Edthedog and Hankthedog :D Hopefully, Hank does get Ed to shower with him!!
Hey WhatthefuckBenj! Thanks! Ed just can't break that habit of looking around before he kisses Hank. Even if he knows only Bill is around. Glad you like Bill. I have to admit I'm a huge sucker for ugly dogs nobody else wants... As are Ed and Hank. Probably went on a little too long about it. (This is a case of them being able to call the dogs ugly, but don't let anyone else try it!) Kind of a meandering chapter, but they all are... Ed really does need to watch the movie. He's afraid to. Doesn't want to see Jack get hurt and Ennis suffering. Of course they own a copy. of it. Hank will probably get him to watch it yet. We'll just have to see how convincing Hank can be about the shower. He may have to take a cue from the dog and just jump in with Ed. (Hank's tried it before, but Ed usually just drags him off to the bed. Maybe Ed will stay put eventually. ;) Can't tell you their real names - It's an awful small town! ;D
"Probably went on a little too long about it." Oh don't worry, I enjoyed it all. The dogs are just too adorable. "Ed really does need to watch the movie. He's afraid to. Doesn't want to see Jack get hurt and Ennis suffering. Of course they own a copy. of it. Hank will probably get him to watch it yet." Hank would be there too, to remind him that their life didn't take that turn and that everything's alright. Plus i'd have a catharsis effect so to say, now that they started talking bout their pasts. "Hank's tried it before, but Ed usually just drags him off to the bed." It can't be that Ed never enjoyed the joys of shower sex. Hank needs to persuade him somehow.. or if that won't work.. dunno.. glue him to the shower maybe?? *innocentlook* "Can't tell you their real names - It's an awful small town! ;D" Alright, as long as they're not horrible old men's names ;) Lookin forward to the next chapter or the next postcards, whatever i can get :D
Trouble with Ed watching the movie with Hank is then that would mean I'd have to watch it again too... But I really do think Ed needs to see it. I've only seen it once and I don't know if I can watch it again. :( Yes, I'm one of those people... I do own it though, even though I don't know if I can watch it. How weird is that?
I do love your idea of Hank gluing Ed to the shower! And don't worry they definitely don't have horrible old men's names in real life. :D
OK, I love Bill. I think I might have to marry him and go live with Ed and Hank (and Edthedog and Hankthedog) 'cause I love them all so much. Think they'd be OK with that? He's a great character
“Not all people so prejudiced though.” Bill laughed, “Some people got house dogs and yard dogs. We were so poor couldn’ afford dogs at all so’s ma parents separated us kids inta house kids ‘n yard kids. Alas, I were unlucky ‘nough ta be one of the yard kids. Bit one a them house kids good though once.”
Heh. The truck convo was great - and interesting watching Ed read Hank's last chapter. Plus this made me lol:
Ed read a little more, then objected, “Ain’ got no soft center. ‘Cept maybe when it comes ta you. ‘N Iris. ‘N dogs. Like dogs a lot. ‘N horses…”
“Okay. I take it back.” Hank laughed, “Other than with me ‘n Iris ‘n a few other people ‘n things, yer hard as nails through ‘n through.”
Bill is blushing! And very flattered. He's a shy old bachelor, but I bet he'd be willing to give it a go. Not bad looking either. Has that same handsome rugged weathered look as Ed and Hank. Best part is that they don't even know they're good looking. Maybe y'all could just go to a movie first and out to the Pizza Hut for dinner? Better do it in the opposite order though, restaurants close early in these parts. ;D Hope you don't mind me moving in too? I've been planning on it for a while... P.S. Thanks again for your comments!
Oh you know I just love these two and well I think you are in my head and my life so much with them. I have been trying for 11 years to get my partner to shower with me nothing more fun the showering together but he will have no part of it either. I also thought the kiss with Bill catching them was classic Pat and Joe I'm always trying to steal a kiss or smack on the ass but always get caught so fun. The two ugly dogs well they are precious in my heart I love dogs and cats and any other stray that comes along at one point even had baby racoons to take care of. Yeah, I keep trying to talk to these guys on line about being honest and open with themselves but find so many who are still hiding in the closet and afraid to be themselves. Yeah we have to endure some hardships for being ourselves but if we can just make one person see the light that we are just like everyone else then life will get better slowly. I think the Ed and Hank stories should be published to a broader base of people to read so they can be enlightened that these

Hey Joe! I love that Ed and Hank get you "rambling". They do plenty of it themselves. ;) And I love what you call "rambling". Hope you get Pat in the shower someday. Hank is definitely gonna work on Ed. I think Hank did "borrow" that stuff about how so many young guys still find it difficult to accept who they are from one of your previous comments on Ed and Hank. Hope you dont mind.... I am shameless. People often idealize small towns but they can be pretty awful places. I know because I do actually live in one. (I am definitely not your typical small-town resident.) It was very brave of you to come out to your high school class. I'm glad that there are people who are supportive of you. I'm afraid there will always be those who are not. But at least you now know it's not all of them. And hopefully it will keep changing for the better, person by person. Thanks again!
Borrow whatever from my comments you like I don't mind. I must be getting older sometimes I tell the same stories over and over from my past and I'm only 41 years old which I think is very young but in gay years I guess it is like a 100. Oh well, please keep writing and I will keep on writing. I have been toying with several story lines in my head but still have not yet put on paper. Maybe someday. Joe
Hey Joe, Love the "gay years" comment(lol)! Think it works the opposite though. 41 years old should be more like 21 in "gay years"! :) Loved your "Sound of Music" story from "White Picket Fences..." too! Hope you do put something down on paper. Would love to read it!
Great chapter. Interesting and clever how you gently went from the part about the dogs to Hank reflecting on the impact of the movie and how so many people are still in hiding.
Love how Hank shares what he writes with Ed and how Ed is reluctant to revisit the bad years.
Poor Hank, not getting a shower with Ed even after all these years. How come Ed doesn't want to take a shower with him? :/
Hey City Girl, Thanks! I really appreciate your comments! Poor Ed. He really is getting tired of revisiting the bad years Lucky for him I don't think there's too much more of it left. Probably more than he'd like though... And, yes, poor Hank, not getting to shower with Ed. He has tried just jumping in with Ed before, but Ed usually just stops the shower pretty quick and drags him off to the bed. Personally, I think Ed is just lazy. Likes that bed too damn much. Hank may have to pin Ed down, literally(?), and make him explain himself. Maybe Hank will convince him yet...
