Hey there!
The plan IS to head East... eventually. (If there's any $$ left to do so.) Ed and Hank are just takin' the long way 'round...

My last boyfriend & I used to take weekend trips that way. (We also reffered to 'em as the "Chinese Buffet Tour".

Yep... Taking the long way 'round is the only way to go. Until you run out of money that is...

Road Trippin... cwby30 June 6 2007, 04:56:51 UTC
Evenin'.

Well, glad to see Ed is traveling further than around the coffee pot looking for the handle. Ed always did want to see the ocean.

Ed does have Hank to thank for a lot. But, the reverse is true, too..where would Hank be without Ed to share his life with? End up a lonely old man living by himself in a ramshackle house on a bleak plain somewhere in Wyoming? This is so much better for both of them, and for us.

Thanks again.

Hey there!

Yep, Hank finally got Ed out of state... figured he had to ease him into it. And yep, the both have a lot to thank the other for, but I know they both realize it. Glad you're enjoying the trip.

Hey, 'Blue!

Glad the boys are havin' such a good time.
I'm with Ed- don't much like humidity either. But I love Ed's weak knees; and the reason for them.
They are so sweet! (Don't make that face at me, Ed!)
How'd he find that heart leaf?

Y'all be safe, now, but have fun!

Hey J/L/D!

The boys are having a wonderful time. Alas... Ed's too tired to make faces at you right now. He might later though. Turns out lots of leaves are heart shaped... Hank just never noticed (not too many leaves where they live) and he never saw a leaf that big before. (Although there is nothing for scale in the picture so it's kinda hard to tell.)

And don't worry... Ed does his best to keep Hank away from cliff edges, giant waves, etc...

I really enjoyed the trip to the ocean and the hazy morning that turned into a beautiful day. I'm glad that Ed went weak in the knees and well this is a great adventure together and that is down right wonderful. I'm so happy that you are enjoying yourselves. Hope they have pancakes nearby. Joe

Hey Joe, Glad you're still enjoying the trip too. No pancakes in quite a while though. :( Ed and Hank are trying to be good and not spend too much on restaurant food. (They're saving it up all in case they make it to Chicago. :D)

When I was little to save money and travel. My parents would let us eat out for breakfast but lunch and dinner my mother would go to a local grocery store and buy ham, cheese, and buns or something similiar for our dinners. They said breakfast was affordable and lunch and dinner were expensive and once in a blue moon they would let us eat at those cafeteria type places in the 70's. That way we could take road trips in June or August since my father was a teacher he would have us read about the towns and cities we would visit and then test us on our knowledge and go to the low cost museums and historic sites on our trips. At the time I hated it but these days I'm happy he forced us to learn on our trips. Now most hotels give you a free breakfast but times change. I still when taking a road trip try and learn as much about each town and village and city when traveling and with laptop in hand and wireless I find it a great tool. Oh well just wanted to share. Sorry to interrupt your trip with my trivial ramblings. Joe

Hi Joe, Sorry to take so long to respond... Haven't had a chance to seek out internet access in a while. Your 'ramblings' are never trivial and always looked forward to! Loved the story of your family vacations. Ed and Hank aren't eating out too often and haven't stayed in a hotel, but they're still having a great time. Although at this point Hank is awfully sick of sandwiches. Ugh...

I was beginning to wonder whether Ed was gonna never have gone further than around the campsite, lookin for the pit toilet.:-) Not that there wasn't plenty to see around that last one...

Hank always was good at prying Ed out of his shell, and I'm not surprised Ed is sometimes overcome by how very lucky he was to find the one who knew that it is just a shell, and that the man inside is well worth finding.

Hank's right, though: "Ya don' owe me nothin' tha' I don' owe you.
'N I think tha' makes us even." He needs Ed's love just as much as Ed needs his, and Ed's pretty amazin at showin him just how much he is needed, with and without words.

My bounty is as boundless as the sea,
My love as deep; the more I give to thee,
The more I have, for both are infinite

Maybe they'll find a shell or two to keep as souvenirs.
Loved that you made that connection, Jenny.

'Blue, she's real smart, isn't she! :D

Yes, Jenny's real smart! Both of you are real smart! :D

After they get home, Ed and Hank will have to read more.

Love the Romeo and Juliet quote. Thanks. And your comment about "how very lucky he [Ed] was to find the one who knew that it is just a shell, and that the man inside is well worth finding." And about how Hank needs Ed's love just as much as Ed need's Hank.

Hank did have to kind of ease Ed out of state. It took a while, (decades, even) but Ed still seems to be enjoying himself.
