Ed and Hank, part 19

The best laid plans…

but I was kinda worried about you all last week when that blizzard hit the Rockies, was hoping you didn't get caught in it!

Poor Bill! hope he's feeling better now.

Hey, and Merry christmas!

Hey there, It's kind of nice to think someone was worried about us. We probably would have left and been caught in that blizzard if the flu hadn't hit here since Ed never believes the weather forecasts. You did tell us to drive careful, so I should have dropped you a note to let you know we weren't on the roads after all. Would have made quite a chapter if we had been though... Ugh.

Bill is definitely on the mend. He'll appreciate you askin' after him.

Merry Christmas!

That kinda chapter I can do without! Sad thing is if you'd gotten past the snow, it would have been pretty smooth sailing aside from the rain and fog. Had us a green soggy Christmas here in Illinois. Sorry the guys had to miss seeing Iris, tho' --

What a great chapter! I love how they put off their trip without a second thought to take care of Bill. And when Hank was remembering that week, one of his favorite weeks, my first thought was "I bet that's when Ed decided to kill himself, and he was saying goodbye in his own way and trying to make it Hank's most memorable week, because he knew it was going to be their last!" *sob* I'm so glad the guys are together and happy now.

Thanks! I'm really glad you liked the chapter. Thanks a lot for reading and commenting. (You're much quicker than Hank is at figuring things out :) )

Poor Bill!! Glad it wasn' the pie that made him sick. lalaynia December 26 2006, 03:36:54 UTC
What a sweetheart he is for wantin' Hank and Ed to go on their trip, but I'm glad they stayed. Can't wait til he's feelin' better, and starts worryin' about the boys takin' advantage of him again. ;D

Hank seems to have a thing about them pajamas- lookin' forward to findin' out more about that! And the fussin' back and forth on road trips, and the games they play with each other, just gotta love 'em both.

I'm sendin' up a prayer of thankfulness for them bein' steadfast all those years, and includin' you too, just fer bein' you.

Happy Christmas to all of you,

Ed, Hank, Bill, Iris, Hankthedog, Edthedog, assorted horses and other critters, and specially to MyEyesAin'tBlue.

Hey Joan,
Happy Christmas to you too. Hope you had a good one! (Btw, the pajamas are from a previous chapter, quite a while ago now I think, Hank had briefly reminsiced about how much fun it had been to rip those old things off of Ed. And I believe he is looking forward to a re-enactment. ;D )

Ed pulled Hank closer, whispering in his ear, “Sorry… ‘bout breakin’ it so much. Yer heart. Know I did. Could see it every time I left ya.”

“Thought I hid it better ‘n tha’...”

“Tha’ face a yers ain’t never been able ta hide nothin’. Ain’t never told ya… but… broke ma heart ta leave ya too. Ev’ry single time.”

“Ya sure hid it lot better ‘n I did. Mos’ a the time, anyways.”

*sniffle* I love when you mirror Jack and Ennis with Hank and Ed. Jack's heart had to have broken just a little bit each time they had to part but that doesn't mean Ennis' didn't also. But Ennis was always so much better at hiding what was going on inside himself.

Hank and Ed are so wonderful. I just love them.

Hey there, I'm glad you're still enjoying Ed and Hank, even if there is the occasional *sniffle*. Possibly more of that in the next chapter, even though Hank has been trying to avoid it... Thanks for reading and commenting!

Oh absolutely I am still enjoying it. I have been remiss at leaving comments of late. I started a new job that has been kicking my a** and by the time I can read fics at night I am usually so brain dead I can't form semi-conherient comments. But Hank and Ed are my grandpas ;D so, I have to keep up on what they are up to.

Hey! Sorry your new job has been kicking your a**. Don't feel like you're being "remiss at leaving comments" -- I've been terrible at it myself lately, with not being able to keep up with reading anything. And I'm just glad anyone is still reading Ed and Hank because Hank certainly won't be able to stop writing 'til the story is finished (or at least 'til they're together permanent-like) :D

P.S. Still love it that you think of them as your grandpas!

I really enjoy this story. You tell it so well. And, the back and forth through their relationship, and how twenty plus years of ups and downs, fearless hearts that weren't always so fearless, and how it reinforces their feelings for each other today...just wonderful.

Happy New Year!
