TITLE: First Kiss
SUMMARY: They take things one step higher. A companion piece to
High School.PAIRING: HaeHyuk
Leeteuk glared at the young man sitting before him. Hands on his hips, he demanded, "What could have possessed you to do that, Lee Donghae?!"
The brown-haired, brown-eyed teen appeared dazed. He was touching his lips absently and said softly, wonder in his voice, "I kissed him."
Leeteuk rolled his eyes. "Yes, Donghae, I think about five dozen other students can attest to that."
Lee Donghae smirked and Leeteuk fought the urge to roll his eyes again. "I finally kissed him!"
"I think we've already established that fact, Hae-yah and I don't think you repeating it after three seconds is going to change it." Now, the older man was amused, the annoyance already fading away. "Now, why don't you tell me why you did it?"
"I can't believe I did it! I mean, I was planning to but I really..."
Huffing exasperatedly, Leeteuk placed both hands on top of the younger's shoulders and shook him gently. "Listen to me, Lee Donghae, yes, you did kiss Lee Hyukjae. And just to make the facts straight, you kissed him in front of the entire school after his first ever public dance performance and then you ran away."
Leeteuk fought the urge to laugh again when Donghae's jaw dropped. "I...fuck, I ran away right after I kissed him.Shit, he must think I'm such a prick!"
"I'm sure he does but I doubt it if Yesung's going to allow you to go near his brother after that stunt you just pulled. He was practically spitting fire moments ago and seriously, Donghae-yah, you were practically molesting Hyukjae."
The soccer captain looked indignant. "I WAS NOT!"
"I can assure you that it looked as if you were," a calm voice put in and both Leeteuk and Donghae turned to look at the newcomer.
It was Kim Ryeowook.
Donghae gulped. "Er, hi Ryeowook-ah. How's, um, Hyukjae?" He tried to sound as nonchalant as he could. After a beat, he blurted out, "Is Yesung-hyung out for my blood?"
The younger man laughed. "Oh, Donghae-yah, you do NOT want me to answer that."
A long pause before a somewhat shaky voice replied, "Y-Yeah, I figured out that much..."
Before Ryeowook could reply, there was a sound of a door opening and then slamming shut rather loudly.
"LEE DONGHAE! You idiot! Where are you?!" Yesung's normally soothing voice was terrifying because of the intensity of his emotions. "God help me, Lee Donghae, the minute I get my hands on you, you are going to wish you never even stepped into this school! HOW DARE YOU DO THAT TO MY BABY BOTHER?!"
Ryeowook took note of Donghae's paling face and smiled as reassuringly as he could. "Not to worry, Hae-yah, Yesungie's bark is usually a lot worse from his bite."
Donghae tried to smile back but his expression turned into one of mortification as Yesung's tirade continued to echo down the hallways.
"I AM GOING TO BREAK ALL OF YOUR 206 BONES, YOU BRAT! And I am going to make sure you're going to feel every single moment of it! Oh, just you wait, you---you---PERVERT!"
A little of Donghae's color returned. "It was just one kiss!"
His voice was louder than he thought and the sound of rapidly approaching footsteps made him realize his mistake.
He turned and gazed imploringly up at Leeteuk.
The older man raised an eyebrow before he turned around, pointedly ignoring the puppy eyes directed to him. "You're on your own in this one, Hae-yah."
-----
Half an hour earlier...
"Hyung, he kissed me."
Yesung, who was currently plotting the death of a certain soccer captain, forced himself to stop imagining for a moment to look at his brother.
His brother who was wearing a dazed expression and was holding a hand to his lips.
His lips which were defiled just moments ago by that harmless-looking young man named Lee Donghae.
Lee Donghae, Yesung vowed silently, was going to get a piece of his mind (and his fists, if necessary) once they crossed paths.
No one kisses his brother out of nowhere and RUNS AWAY after, thank you very much.
"Don't worry, Hyukkie, I'm going to get a restraining order against him." He said firmly.
Hyukjae blinked. "Hyung?"
"I will personally make sure that he doesn't get within even three feet of you!" Yesung took a deep breath. "I SWEAR IT HYUKJAE!"
"Oh, Yesung, calm down before you hurt yourself, " Ryeowook suggested easily, shooting an amused glance at his fuming boyfriend.
"I WILL NOT CALM DOWN, RYEO! DID YOU SEE WHAT THAT BASTARD DID?!"
"Yes, love, he kissed Hyukjae after his performance. I, as well as the whole school, the teachers, and possibly some parents who came to watch, saw it too."
"THAT'S EXACTLY IT! HE KISSED MY BROTHER!" Yesung yelled.
"Yes, and your brother---"Ryeowook replied calmly, pointing to Hyukjae, "---doesn't really seem all that bothered by it."
The other man looked at Hyukjae and realized that it was true. He floundered for a moment before he burst out, "I DON'T CARE! HE KISSED HYUK AND THEN RAN AWAY! WHY WOULD HE RUN?! LEE DONGHAE, JUST YOU WAIT---"
Ryeowook raised an eyebrow at his boyfriend's theatrics and met Hyukjae's gaze, which was straying worriedly now and then to his agitated brother.
Understanding the meaning behind the dancer's pleading gaze, Ryeowook nodded.
He placed a kiss against Yesung cheek and merely shaking his head as Yesung barely stopped his tirade to kiss him lightly on the lips before he moved past his boyfriend to get to Hyukjae.
"I'll go warn him about the imminent danger," he whispered to the dancer, making sure that Yesung could not hear them, "and tell him that you'll meet him behind the library? On the bottom of the steps, perhaps? There are benches there where you could talk."
The other nodded and smiled gratefully. "Yes, thank you, Ryeowook-ah. I'll distract Yesung-hyung for as long as I can."
Ryeowook nodded, glanced at his still ranting boyfriend before he chuckled and left left the room, leaving with a too-cheerful, "Good luck with that, Hyukjae-ah."
------
Donghae fiddled with his shirt one last time before he took a deep breath and walked resolutely towards the back of the library.
Hyukjae was already sitting on one of the benches.
Taking another deep breath, he approached quietly and sat down beside the dancer.
"I see you managed to escape."
"Yeah," Donghae replied. "It was a close call. He almost caught me. It was a good thing Ryeowook-ah managed to distract him."
"Oh." Hyukjae remarked, trying not to imagine what diversional technique the pianist employed to be able to distract his brother. Knowing how those two acted around each other, he would rather not know. "That's good."
An awkward silence settled over them and Hyukjae fidgeted in his seat.
"So, Donghae-ssi..."
"About earlier..."
They looked at each other, eyes wide and cheeks flushed (in Hyukjae's case) before Donghae grinned and took his hand.
"I'm really, really sorry I ran away."
The dancer nodded, unable to say anything.
"Do you hate me?"
"Of course not!"
The captain grinned. "Good. Can I kiss you again?"
"I--Wha--B-But---"
"Just say yes."
"Y-Yes."
Another blinding smile, this time a little feral, and Hyukjae had three seconds to take a breath before lips were against his and everything became a blur of colors and sounds that didn't really matter because everything was perfect and nothing could possibly go wrong at this moment----
"LEE DONGHAE! WHERE ARE YOU, YOU LITTLE---!"
Donghae pulled away with an exasperated sigh, breathing a little raggedly and brushing a few strands of hair out of Hyukjae's face. "Your brother has the greatest timing ever."
The dancer was still looking a little dazed but he managed to grin and say, "He does."
Standing up quickly, Donghae extended a hand to the other man and Hyukjae raised an eyebrow in question.
"Let's get out of here."
Smiling, the dancer stood up and nodded and Donghae pulled him closer, looping the paler man's arms around his neck and brushing his nose against one flawless cheek.
Hyukjae closed his eyes and smiled again, feeling nervous and excited and at ease. He opened his eyes after a few seconds and froze.
"Donghae?"
"Hm?"
"Don't look now but Yesung-hyung's on top of the stairs. If he turns his head just so, he's going to see us."
There was a pause before Donghae said, "Let's get out of here?"
Hyukjae nodded fervently.
Without a warning, Donghae slid his hands on Hyukjae's thighs and lifted the dancer. Hyukjae yelped, instinctively curling his legs around Donghae's waist and tightening his grip on Donghae's shoulders to maintain his balance.
Donghae grinned, his own arms encircling the dancer's waist. "Hold tight."
He ignored Hyukjae's demands to be put down, Yesung's indignant voice echoing behind them and started to run.
He only hoped Hyukjae's brother was not a fast runner.
