We attended the
Bay Area Maker Fair on May 19th, some two months ago. Prior to the event I have no clue about
Make Magazine, the event creator. Guess I have been living under a rock. Stvn, on the other hand was super excited and that made me immensely curious.
It was a hugely popular event so much so that visitors were encouraged to take public transport in order to avoid traffic congestion. Free shuttle bus services were provided at various points and fortunately for us, there was one not too far from us. The organizer did an excellent job given the magnitude of this event.
A sizable number of people were already at the fair when we got there. Everyone seemed to be in good spirit even though it was scorching hot. I was glad to take shelter at the building where my journey of amazement began. All sorts of things that were made was on display; some conventional others out of the ordinary. I marveled at the boldness and creativity that filled the whole space as my eyes were continued to be opened. What a great way to spend the day - being inspired and awed constantly!
Thinking that there was only one building to conquer, I was shocked to find out there were 3-4 other similar buildings filled with exhibits! Mind-boggling to say the least. Words failed me so I'm going to share some pictures to give you an idea of what the fair is like.
A great cartoon to represent the spirit of a maker.
This human cupcake on wheel welcomed us when we arrived. So cool! Kinda set the tone of what was in store.
