National Day Picnic

Aug 11, 2009 16:13

We celebrated the nation's birthday together with fellow Singaporeans for a picnic at Shoreline Lake. It was potluck style and that made it fun as we were curious to see what the others brought in their picnic baskets. We prepared rojak and papadum. I thought rojak is rather symbolic seeing that we are people with different backgrounds and experiences :) It was the perfect day for a picnic. The sun was out in full force and we sought shelter under the big trees. The good thing is there was breeze. Nice! The view was simply gorgeous. I wish I had a book with me and I'm certain I will be contented to sit there for the whole day! It was wonderful spending the morning with people who understand and appreciate Singapore's uniqueness and idiosyncrasies. Coming from me it's kinda weird since I'm not even Singaporean! Nonetheless, it feels as though I am since I've lived in the sunny island for so long and it is pretty much home for now. Anyhow, I shall stop and let the pictures tell the story.

Shoreline Lake. Perfect day!
