Went to Chicago! this past weekend!

Every time I type the word Chicago! I feel like it has to have the explanation mark behind it. Why? Because that was one of the best girl trips I've ever taken. And in reality, I've taken quite a few. But this was the first since becoming a Mom.

Another weird thing about the trip to Chicago was that I went with a totally different group of girls that I normally don't hang out with. Actually, a few of them I have never even been out with. Patty, though has always been a friend though we venture in and out of spending time together. So new friendships were made, old friendships were renewed.

When I first dropped the girls off I went to pick up Sara and just bawled my eyes out. I think I cried a couple more times from missing the woman but I could have actually stayed one more day.

The drive there wasn't too bad besides all of the complaints that we didn't have air conditioning. Go figure, two days before we leave I try to use it and it doesn't work. I just hoped it wouldn't be too hot out. But you get seven women in a mini van and things get kind of heated. The girls tryied to complain in good fun, but yet, being the driver I felt responsible for their comfort and that part kind of sucked.

Anyways, we rolled up to this expensive hotel with wind blown hair and looking like hell. Some of the girls went ahead with the bags and Sara and I checked in. All we had was a case of water, two purses and two make up bags. I felt like we looked like a couple of prostitutes that finally made enough cash to get a room. LOL...yeah, I looked rough.

We ended up eating dinner at some fancy restuarant. The cab driver dropped us off at a corner with several places to eat and this was on the corner we were let out at. It started to rain so we decided to go in. The hostesses looked at us like we were nuts because we didn't have reservations though we were seated in less than 10 minutes.

A surf and turf was only $103 though we wish we would have thought about splitting it with someone else since the lobster was absolutely huge! Heh, yeah high prices but some fair prices too. Portions were incredible. If you ordered a side it would feed the whole table. It was kind of crazy really. But the topper of eating there was we saw THE Rev. Jesse Jackson. He sat three tables away from us. I really could careless if I see someone famous but he really did seem larger than life. It actually was pretty neat.

Lots of money later and a couple of cab rides we ended up at Excaliber. A night club and danced the night away. Good thing about Chicago! is that the bars are open until 4 a.m.

Needless to say all of us maybe got 6 hours of sleep total in two days.

Day two we ate some incredible Chicago! pizza, Sara and I went on a doubledecker bus tour and ended up spending the night in. The rest of the girls went out and got their grooves on.

Actually my favorite part of the trip was the bus tour. If we hadn't done that, it would have been the second time I was in Chicago! and didn't really realize what there was too see.

Next time I go, I know I will have some sort of a plan of what I want to accomplish.

I guess my other favorite part of the trip was just bonding with the girls. It was a nice open trip were no one really seemed uncomfortable, everyone got a long great and I hope I have made some new lasting friendships.

The whole point of the trip was for Sara to take a certification test Sunday morning. We are all hoping she passed.

One thing to note: Can you believe I didn't even shop? I know! I'm shocked too.

Anyways, I cant wait for the next girl trip. I really can't.
