I officially have 19 days before I go to pick up my puppy! I believe I have everything ready, aside from buying her food (Innova EVO Red Meat Large Bites). I will do that about a week before she arrives. Here is a list of everything that I have:
- Large crate
- Different types of toys
- Food bin/cup
- Food and water bowls
- Blankets, bedding, and my own pillow for inside the crate
- Martingale leash
- Kongs
- Dremel
- Shampoo
- Rubber brush for grooming
I also need to call to set up a vet appointment for the Monday following her arrival. I'll be getting her on a Saturday, so I don't think they would be open for very long, if at all, on a weekend. I will double check though!
In addition to all those things, I have three names picked out that I am going to try on her when she gets here. They all kind of sound similar, but hopefully she will find one to her liking. They are: Lyra, Maya, and Yuna. My boyfriend likes them most in the reverse order, while I like them most in the order listed. I really hope she likes Lyra, honestly! If she doesn't like any of them, then I guess I will have to go to some of the backup names. They are Sophie, Layla, Luca, Kaylee and maybe Penny.
So I think that's it! Just food, vet appointment, and a name are all that's left of my doggy-to-do list. Oh and the dog of course. ;D
After she gets settled in for about a week I will set up her obedience classes. I have a place all picked out, so it shouldn't be too much hassle. I just hope I have the money... blarg. It's pretty cheap though--about 120$ for all the different classes. Then they are like 30$ a piece if I wanted to repeat any.
Less than 20 days.... agh! This is awesome! I can't believe it. I am getting more and more nervous. I hope I can do as much of a good job with this as I am hoping. I wanted a dog not only for the awesomeness that can be had from a canine companion, but also to prove that I can be responsible. This will be a very big test for me and everyone (except for a few people) is counting on me to fail. I can do it though. This will be amazing. She will be amazing.
This is the latest picture from the breeder. These pictures are still when they are six weeks old, so they should be a little bigger by now.
Mine is the first one in the middle row!
