[In every life, the sun must set. Kid knew this more than anyone, but it didn't change the fact that it still hurt when he lost someone. It's hard to accept when someone simply disappears.

Still, Mayfield had enough problems right now without Kid adding another pile of worry and depression on the top. Liz always hated when he worked himself into a ( Read more... )

I've looked into this a little. You want to know what I've found?

I'm open to all information. I'm trying to piece it together, myself.

I think they go home. From all accounts I can gather, they go back to the time they left and forget about this place. They get brought back sometimes.

It is part of the reason I want to tear this place down. I don't plan to get brought back after I escape.

I'm going to be honest, Sniper. I want to believe all of that.

But I've also heard conflicting stories. It makes blind optimism difficult.

I haven't returned home yet but I haven't been permanently droned. What have you heard of the process?

Supposedly, I was here once for several months, but I remember nothing of my previous stay.

I've heard of others finding themselves trapped in their own heads. Stuck in those... blank abominations, but lucid.

I hear most forget being here when they go home. Maybe the memories fade from the bodies here as well after too long.

As for being trapped, I've been there. It's terrible. Still, it doesn't happen to everyone. What's the longest you've heard of it happening?

...Have you come across the Smith family yet, Sniper?

I've only heard rumors.

Jane Smith - or rather, "Samantha Achewood" - has possibly been trapped, and lucid, for quite some time now.

Perhaps it's just a rumor. But the possibility is enough to keep our eyes open, isn't it? Good lot it will do us to escape or destroy this place, to only find out that we doomed an entire slew of innocents.

[There was some silence, and for once Sniper thought best to keep a thought to himself.]

Something to look into mate. Still, we shouldn't stop moving forward. This town will take a lot of effort to overthrow so we have time to figure out the rest.

I'm certainly not arguing with that. My point is, as long as we keep moving, to dismiss or assume anything here would be to our disadvantage.

Of course mate.

[Leaves it at that.]
