[Kid's voice is somewhat muffled on one end of the phone, as he currently has the receiver upside-down. So he's a little old-fashioned, telephones have somewhat of a learning curve if you've never had to make a phone call for reals in your life.]

Really! Blasted thing-- I, how does this even--??

[APPEARS like the creeper he is] Hardly anything will fall into your scope of power at the moment, you know.

[Gosh not!Dad why you gotta be a busta.]

Either way, Honorable Father would expect me to take care of whatever I can. For now, it's information.

What good do you think that sort of information will do? [he is actually a little curious despite the generic Condescending Air]

Well, rather than sitting outside in filth like some people, I actually have responsibilities. One of them being the balance of souls and the care for the dead. No matter how convenient it is for some people, it's unnatural for there to be no permanent death.

Currently alive or not, they're still my responsibility!

[hippie insults aside, all that talk of souls and balance has him instantly intrigued! maybe that's why he actually decides to share some information instead of being a cryptic creeper about things.]

Any notion of balance and care you might have is likely null and void here. You'll find there is a disconnect between the soul and body. While the soul can be detected while a person is alive, it become nearly impossible to find in the state of pseudo-death that this town provides.

[Pause. Well, that's surprisingly helpful. Huh.]

The key-word here is "nearly." I don't know how they're spiriting away spirits, but logically there must be some way to figure out what they do.

Logically, yes, but they wouldn't make something like that so easy to figure out. Not when it's probably the same method they use to bring people here in the first place.

What? You honestly think I expect this to be simple? I already figured that gem out when I found out that people aren't even dying correctly!

I wasn't aware there was a correct way to die. Unless you're referring to the constant resurrections, in which case I guess it would be a little unnerving for people who aren't use to that.

Father resurrected people from time to time, that's... that's not the issue.

Tell me! How do people expire where you come from? Because where I'm from, they absolutely do not leave behind bodies.

They do leave bodies behind where I come from. That's the way it should be. We would be cheating the earth out of nutrients otherwise.

I really don't understand this at all. Those with souls shed their mortal shells and are reduced to only their essential essence. The only things that would leave behind shells are things that don't have any real spirit to them to begin with.

How strange! Everyone in my world has a soul even though we all leave our bodies behind. It's important to the cycle of birth and rebirth.

I've rarely seen a few bodies left behind, and always in the form of the undead. Abominations, with one exception, if you ask me.
