I went to the Music Man today. No, not the show. An ice cream parlor. The waiters/waitresses sing. Nothing like the bootleg Johnny Rockets singing, but actual Broadway sounding singing. We didn't expect it at all.
The evening started with us waiting until the show was over. They have shows every 25 min or so. They don't let you in the restaurant until a show is over. One of the waitresses out front told us we have to either sing, dance or shout for our ice cream. Everyone was against it, except my insane mother of course. We sat outside arguing for 20 min until they let us inside. I went into the bathroom and did my business. That's when the oddities really started. I heard my family ordering, and someone said; "Hey, Nadia didn't order yet. She's in the bathroom." Then the waiter stood outside the bathroom yelling; "NADIA NADIA! WHAT DO YOU WANT?" Even after leaving the bathroom, he followed me to our table yelling "NADIA NADIA! WHAT IS YOUR ORDER?" After ordering(the whole room) All 6 waiters/waitresses yelled at everyone in the restaurant to stand up, then they said something about Chubby Checker, and had everyone in the restaurant do the twist. After everyone did the twist, a waiter told everyone that 2 people ordered the birthday sundae, and they had to stand up and sing. The two girls wouldn't sing, so they took their sundaes away and "Can't touch this" came on the loud speakers. Everyone then had to point at the two girls and call them 'party poopers'. A lot of obsurdities later, the real show began. They sang show tunes, a song from hairspray, beauty school drop out from Grease(the guy even wore Elvis sunglasses with fake sideburns).
It was a great show, we all laughed so hard. So much fun! and so interactive! one of the waitresses even put a guy's hair up in a ponytail. 3 old people ordered a certain dessert and the waiters made them stand up and hold hands and sing.
We really weren't expecting any of this. It was more fun then the boardwalk games. I wish I could bring Paul and his family. His sister is so quiet, they always make the quiet people stand up XD. Oh yeah! Before the show, a waiter asked the audience who's first time it was. One table raised their hand and when asked how they found out about the place; answered drive by. "DRIVE BY!" Then all the waiters/waitresses brought out police tape and wore sunglasses and put it around the front while typical LA Cop music played from the speakers. When they asked us how we found out about this place, my mom answered; "from a friend" "FRIEND" the Friends theme song played and all the waitresses/waiters re enacted the Friends credits, one of the guys even skipped out holding an umbrella!
