and one of the many reasons I don't speak to my father or my brother.

I am not sure where my conviction comes from that "You will treat me as a person or you will not have me in your life." I suppose it could be that one of the worst experiences OF my life (living with my step-father) involved being treated as a non-person, and I refuse to allow it to happen again.

Or maybe it's that I feel that someone needs to stand up, step up, and say, "You know what? No more. You wanna treat women like trash? Then you get no women, or at least not THIS woman. I'm not going to stand here and listen to your bullshit, and you can take your misogyny and go fuck yourself."
