Stake Musical - Day 1

May 01, 2007 22:46

Total ftw for our kids tonight. The girls got their parts and the characters so quick, and the barbershop quartet was amazing. All the director/costume/props/leaders people came in to listen to our readthroughs of the whole scene and they were so impressed. Then the boys even stood outside and serenaded people as they left at the end of practice. The hams; they're totally going to steal the show. The only problem with this is, we thought this whole "learning parts" thing was going to take a much longer time than it did, so Dad and I were kind of scrambling to figure out what we wanted to do! I'll have to actually choreograph these numbers really soon. Yikes. Hold on to your hats. And I must say, I had a fantastic time doing this director thing, but now I'm tired. I better start getting some stamina otherwise, I'm going to be a gibbering mess by the end of these 6 weeks! (As opposed to now...)

I should add that as I was directing the "Pick-a-Little" ladies, I was basically teaching them to flirt. Talk about the blind leading the blind. (Actually, more like the blind/deaf leading...well, teens)

Most bizarre weather today. Scattered torrential thundershowers that made driving very interesting. One minute it's raining so hard, you can't see more than 10 yards in front of you, the next minute it's stopped completely. Up in our neighborhood we had flash floods of the streets and about an inch of hail that about 30 minutes later had completely disappeared from the roads. Springtime in the Rockies...always an adventure.

Ben's baseball team was 18-1 this season, and was undefeated within their league, so we'll be hosting the first round of playoff games. Even cooler, they've played so well that they might even be ranked #1 in the state. We get the rankings tomorrow. *crosses fingers and toes*

I don't have to drive the really early shift tomorrow! *happy!dance*

I spent so much of today printing music. Tomorrow I'm going to kinko's or the library or something, because today was absurd and totally not cost-efficient, because I practically used up a whole black ink cartridge.

Jefe accidentally had a rather humorous spoonerism today: fart of the pamily.

In seeing everyone's squeeing over Akanishi Jin being back in Japan, I went to YouTube and found the press conference that KAT*TUN held. Actually, I found the clips of him speaking his Engrish. I was almost convinced that he had been studying English until I saw the "I my work my hardest," gem, and now I'm totally convinced that he was just here hitting on girls.

I approve of the word "agog." I do not approve of English punctuation rules that put a period inside the quotes at the end of that sentence.

(anamuan: I completely agree about the futility of a 'que random' tag)

dad, take me out to the ballgame, famiglia mia, ben, stake musical, jefe, weather
