I must do something with my days
I just never seem to remember it when I sit down to type it out. Something about looking at a computer screen that makes my mind go blank.
All this musical prep (and it's only February!) has really brought to the fore my musical theater obsession. And YouTube is such an enabler! I can (and too often do) spend hours just watching videos of various productions. I've found that the German version of Aida is incredible and The Lion King in Japanese is tres cool. (They adjusted some of the makeup/masks/costuming to invoke the kabuki aspect more...it was an impressive blend of the local aesthetic with the original Broadway aesthetic.) I've memorized usernames of the people who upload the best videos and the original Broadway casts, and then I go and search through their vids (mostly so I don't have to wade through the billions of high school productions that are up on YouTube) for the musicals I want to see. I've practically watched entire musicals clip by clip, using the CD track listings to look for videos song by song. No, I don't exhibit any behaviors of an addict...
Drove the Jefe to piano lessons today. He fell asleep, and I had to wake him 3 times as we were getting near his teacher's house in order to get him sufficiently lucid to walk up to his lesson. Good thing one doesn't need many verbal skills while playing classical music, because he was about as coherent as an eggplant.
It's somewhat disconcerting arranging the cars schedule for my household, because so many people are going so many places and doing so many things, and then there's me. I feel kind of like that scene in The Great Race where a huge food fight breaks out all around the good guy character, yet he manages to avoid being hit; it all just kind of goes around him. Now that I think about it, I'm sure my family would be incredibly flattered to know that I often equate them with bits of brightly colored goo.
I find it disconcerting to see my posts pop up on my friends' "Friends" pages. Almost like deja vu, except it's more like "What is my post doing next to Johnny's slash fic?" :p
