God also apparently uses the British spelling system. Who knew? (besides the Brits who will no doubt let me know in no uncertain terms that they had always known their spelling had divine blessings)
Joie came home today. In "related by way of irony" news, it got really really cold and snowy and icy just in time for our heat-loving little girl to get back. But she made it home safe and sound, and we didn't have to launch a rescue mission a la Houston last fall, so all is good in the world.
I also have discovered a rather amazing talent for predicting weather changes. Thursday (when all was still quite warm and dry) my knee began to hurt for no apparent reason. Friday I woke up feeling vaguely like I had been put on the rack all night, so I came upstairs and saw that the weather had done a major change, and suddenly, life made sense again. Unfortunately, I'm now kind of broken. Every which way I turn or bend, I crack like bubble wrap. But if I stay seated in one place for too long, my joints freeze up and hurt even more when I move. And tylenol only takes the edge off. So, to sum up: moving hurts, not moving hurts, and there's not much of anything I can do about it. My gosh, the excitement just never ends.
I really need to make that Mormon to English post, because I keep not writing about stuff because it'll take too long to get to the real point. But I'll try. Bear with me, please.
Tomorrow is Stake Conference (a bi-annual meeting of certain congregations within a designated geographic area), and I was asked to accompany for the Stake Youth Choir (12-18-year-olds in the Stake) which will be singing tomorrow. Fine, sure, no problem. Until I manage to have an arthritic attack the weekend I'm supposed to be playing. Actually, I should probably be grateful that my hands don't actually shrivel up or anything like other forms of arthritis that I've seen. I have near-full mobility, I just have pain to go with it. So, I'll still be able to play, just sorely. Actually, at the moment what peeves me most is the fact that I have to be down at the Stake Center at 8:00 AM for a 10:00 AM meeting. We're having practice beforehand. And then, I get to stay through both sessions (there are two basically identical sessions of Stake Conference because there are just too many people to fit into one chapel all at once) because we're singing at both. So I'll be at the Stake Center from 8 AM to 4 PM. Thank heaven they're feeding us in the middle, otherwise I might have had to cry. And then at 6:30 PM, we have Ward Choir, for which I'm also the accompanist. I have got to learn to stop saying yes when people ask me to do things.
But, all is not doom and gloom. Ben called earlier today to do some elfing, and it was so much fun. Christmas is so much fun around here. I have presents bought for
anamuan,
stillesprite, and Tego-chan, so now I just need to get it all wrapped and in the mail. Along with the gingersnaps I owe people. Would everybody hate me if the gingersnaps came during a season when I don't have to pay ridiculous fees in order to get them there before they go stale?
And now I go to sleep for my 6 AM wake up call. Blech.
