I asked the kind Rakspatel if it was permissible to post my questions on this subject to "Mycrofting" and she responded with a hearty "Yes!" She even gave me the header for the post

Thank you, Rakspatel (lovely name) for allowing me to post this since it was something you had planned to do a bit on down the line.
And thank you for the links!
Of course the esteemed "Cumberbatchfans" must be mentioned. I agree with you, it is a one-stop place for everything Benedict. When I've posted there I've always been met with courtesy, information and fun.
It was dormant for a while so I wrote to the owner and found she'd had quite a bad accident that had waylaid her life for several months. It seemed to me when so much is put into making a site fruitful and it goes silent there had to be a problem. It is back in action now.
This is actually a discussion I have wanted to have for a long time. I was waiting for a few months before having it. But bulleteyes asked me if she could do this and I told her to go right ahead

For me these are the best: 1) When it was not hacked - http://www.sherlocking.org 2) Similar to Sherlocking is Baker Street Supper Club site: http://www.baker-street.org.uk (it also has a forum, but the site itself is brilliant). 3) http://www.bc-online.co.uk - site dedicated to Benedict Cumberbatch. 4) For other fixes I go to Tumblr and DeviantArt (mainly for art). Very nice and fairly new Tumblr site, dedicated especially to Sherlock Holmes fanart is http://sherlockholmesfanart.tumblr.com
I want to take this opportunity to give a shout out to Sherlocking!!!
I loved Sherlocking!!! It was genius. Thirteen was a mod on Sherlocking. Sean who ran Sherlocking taught me pretty much all I know. He introduced me to Baring Gould and Slinger. He first told me about the plight of Undershaw. The site had amazing content and great informed and intelligent discussions. The forum was to die for. It had a healthy mix of men and women, newbies and Canon purists, I used to spend an average of 3-4 hours on the site every day. It was everything that I would have wanted from a Sherlock website and more. It got hacked in November and has been down ever since. I miss it truly, madly, deeply.
I have been in touch with Sean and he has said that he is relaunching Sherlocking just as soon as he can. In my book, that can't come quickly enough. Shout out to Sherlocking and all the ex-Sherlocking crew who are on this com or visiting this com!!!
I adore nightowl's site: http://nightowl81.tumblr.com/ She's really good with images and image editing, her 30 days of Sherlock and ongoing 30 days of Cumberbatch are absolutely brilliant and I agree with them wholeheartedly. She throws in Doctor Who and Merlin and The Misfits and other shows that I'm not familiar with, but it's all good and I hang on to all her new posts.

I confess to having a Tumblr account mainly so I may link to the other accounts and send in a question or an encouragement here and there.

There's the rare NSFW fantasy-post on these, but in general lovely tumblrs with interesting gifs and images and sometimes Japanese fanart.
