Sob Fest 2007
That is what I am going to call yesterday!!!! Be assured all is well with me and my team. But last summer I met 2 women here in Thailand and had the privilege of teaching one of them, Fai. I know I have mentioned both Pi Porn and Pi Fai before but here I go again.
During the course of my absence Fai found out that her husband was cheating on her and in her distress she found friends and confidants among Pi Poo & Pi Chin--both women are bery strong Christians. Through all of the events and struggles she had in her marriage she accepted Christ and in the months since i returned she has been coming to church regularly and spending time with the women in the church. She and her husband were working things out. Then last week she got a phone call from the "Other Woman's" mother. Yes, the girls mother called and told Fai she needed to let her husband go so she could marry her daughter. This is how this wonderful woman who is a baby in her faith found out that her husband had continued his affair. He left and she is very distressed!!! Praise the Lord her first calls were to Pi Chin and another woman from our church--she is seeking their advice and prayer!
Now to Pi Porn, I am not sure what I previously wrote about her but her husband is also cheating on her and both women found out at about the same time. Pi Porn's husband went a step further and left his family to hide in the monastery for 9 months, leaving his wife broke and stuck with his immense debts and an STD! She was hopeless and very depressed! She could not find hope anywhere and even attempted to kill herself and her 2 children. The rope was tied around their necks but her mother in law walked in and found them. She told all of of this to Phylla last week at the store when they happened to run into each other. She invited us to come and visit her the following weekend. This brings us to Sob Fest 2007.
Yesterday Fai was at church and after service we lay hands on her and prayed for her strength and comfort, which started the tears for many of us.
Then in the afternoon we went to Pi Porn's house to see her. She was not ready but agreed to meet us at Pastor Sakta's house as soon as she was ready. She came about 20 minutes later, with her kids, Tanya and James. Tanya is 12 and James is 8! Pi Porn's husband will be leaving the monastery on the 13th and Tanya does not want him to come home, she is afraid he will be physically abusive to them all again. James now wants to be a Buddhist Monk like his father and it was heartbreaking to watch them turn every which way for peace and comfort.
Pi Porn asked Roslen to sing and we all sang a few songs together. In English, so she understood little...singing Shout to The Lord was so difficult while watching their faces and praying that something of the meaning would get through. Fai was there as well and as we continued to sing everyone but Roslen was in tears. We cried and prayed for them both. Then all went to dinner. It was precious and I could have cried all evening over the pain they are all in and the hopelessness of trying to make sense of life without Christ.
Christmas is coming and we invited Pi Porn to come and visit us, please pray that she will and we can continue to talk to her and pray for her. Also for Fai to continue to trust God and lean on the body of Christ for her present troubles.
