House MD 5x04 review...

Oct 28, 2008 12:26

Hello all :)

Here is another Ep review from me. I’d like to do it before today’s EPIC EPISODE and leave the upcoming time for major squeeing and flailing and then some deep analysis.

So have a nice read.

The first scene after the credits and we have House with the PI! It’s the promo scene with Cuddy! Oh it’s starting interesting. PI is so smitten! But really who isn’t with her?! ;) And I love how Cuddy was freaked by PI’s compliment. She was all What the-? I just played Badass!Cuddy and you are complimenting me? On the side note, that’s another similarity between PI and House - both have soft sot for Badass!Cuddy :D Anyway House’s face here is interesting too :D He is surprised by PI comment and he watches quickly from him to Cuddy trying to gain her reaction. He don’t care if PI is interested in Cuddy as long as she is not interested in him. Possessive anyone? *grin* And then he actually scolds PI! You don’t like her shoes, you like her legs. He was trying to make PI feel low and all. But PI is not that kind of person to feel affected by him. This scene was great. I’m all for Cuddy/House/PI triangle.

And House spying on his team! Ha! So in character. I loved how Thirteen reacted to House’s gazing at her. It’s so much different form what would have been Cam’s reaction. She snapped prepared to rebuke any crap from him. Cam would have gotten all flustered. It’s so clear she’s different from Cam, she doesn’t have a crush on him, yet she actually respects him (5x01 shows us this) Hm, I find myself actually likening House/13 scenes. House can be the mentor he’d like to be in their interaction. It’s clear that he cares/wants the Ducklings (the Old ones when they were under him, and Thirteen so far) to grow in their character. He does it in his way, but the thing is, it’s there.

And Kutner! OMG he crawled for twenty miles to be in Guinness Records Book? LOL but I find this as an insight to his character. I think it shows a deep need to achieve something meaningful, to be recognized or to be successful, to be seen for something unique. Interesting.

And we have some new Duckling bonding time I really liked the Taub/Kutner scene. Looks like this ep’s going to be about Taub. Me likes as I like Taub. I like how he downplay stupid things, or things he thinks are stupid. F.e.
T: My wife is not doing a doorman.
K: How would you know?
T. We don’t have a doorman.
ROTFL!

Taub/House scene was interesting. House likes experimenting with people. And he decided to play with Taub. He want’s to see other people’s reactions. He likes to mess with their heads. Or more like stir some troubles and watch how things resolve. It’s a very bad habit of House. I hope it will backfire on him someday.

I laughed when each Duckling (including Foreman) reached to their pockets looking for some money for House. And it was done all without words. He reached his hand and they just knew what he wants. Lol. He trained them well.

And Cuddy's supposed title: "world's-sorest-knees-icil." LOL! I was grinning like Kutner when House said it. Kutner is so cute. And on the side note, House is always making rude comments about Cuddy around his Ducklings and so far none of them has called him on it. And you’d think they will do with all their I’m-not-going-to-take-crap-from-you attitude (the new Ducklings are not as submissive as the old ones were in earlier season IMHO). I wonder why the Ducklings choose to ignore House’s bad mouthing Cuddy. Do they take it as childish, kindergarten way of screaming I like her! and thus choose to ignore it? And I just remembered when House said to Foreman in Season Four that he actually likes Cuddy (well parts of her ;) ) Maybe this is somehow connected. Maybe they don’t want to be involved in this twisted but, oh so entertaining, Huddy relationship? Maybe they are afraid of being burned by the flying sparks? ;)

I like the parallel with Taub and the POTW. Taub’s telling his wife what he wants to hear in order to keep her happy is a complete opposite to House’s way of thinking that only the truth matters. I wonder if that was why House decided to keep Taub (alongside his talent as a doctor, which so far hasn’t been shown as that brilliance). I think that House might find Taub as an interesting person. Thus he is experimenting with him. And about Taub’s philosophy, well, as romantics and altruistic as it may sound, to me it’s actually wrong. He’s cheating on her wife, he’s lying to her and when she finds out the truth she’ll be very hurt. He’s actually selfish and trying to hide it under his excuse of thinking of his wife happiness. As much as House’s way of dealing with things is hurtful, in the long run it is better. We just have to be more tactful while being truthful (and not like House - blunt and dismissing others feelings).

Taub/Thirteen scene was another one in this episode showing new Duckling bonding or more like being concerned for each other. I noticed that the new Ducklings seem to keep together despite their differences as if forming an opposition to House. They defend each other f.e. Taub defended Thirteen when House admitted it were drugs, even if we know Taub and Thirteen don’t go well together; we had that Taub/Kutner scene in the POTW’s apartment where Kutner was trying to help Taub. And on top of that they seem to be forming a front against House, sometimes looking for an approval of Foremen, sometimes not. And I don’t remember this being done by Old Ducklings. Interesting. I wonder if this is just my subjective impression or if it’s done on purpose to explore it more later.

House/Taub scene no2 just confirms my thoughts on House liking to experiment with others. But it’s not just to see their reaction, I think it’s actually to test his ability to read and predict people. I just tend to forget that House is an egocentric child. He’s testing his knowledge of humanity. He thinks he knows how people react, and mostly he’s right but there occasions that he’s wrong because not all people are bad and selfish. They can do something unthinkable and good for others. House’s experiments with other people’s lives show us how self conceited House really is. He thinks he knows everything. He’s a jackass because he actually plays with people lives. Hope it will bite him in the a$$ someday soon.

House and PI using that secret agents devices! So funny. :) And the woman in the Clinic was so freaked out by PI speaking to himself. LOL. She totally thought he’s nuts! And again we had an insight into House form PI’s POV. You like to make me miserable and you like to drive people away from you - speak about hitting the jackpot! He was with House for a really short time yet he nailed him. I just wonder if it will be the scenario for Huddy. Will House try to drive Cuddy away? Or, if he will decide to take this next step, he’ll pursue her no matter what? And what if it will be Cuddy who will try to push him away? I find the second scenario as more probable and more in character at this point of the series. But time will tell.

There is only one truth. That’s House’s philosophy. I wonder if he’ll stay true to it. And I really likes this because it’s actually a blow to relativism so popular in our modern society. House seems to not be a relativist. He has deep beliefs even if he’s an ass. House is such a complex character, he’s a mix of what I find good in other person and of what disgusts me. I think that’s what actually keeping me glued to this show. House (and other characters) that are so fascinating. The show is so realistic and the characters are actually multidimensional. It’s hard to do in the first place, but to keep it still in season 5 is amazing. Like always, I’m stupefied but the awesomeness of the writers and creators of House. They really are artists. I say it quite a lot, but I truly believe it’s the main reason behind the success of the show.

There is a lot of House’s character showed in this episode. Another House’s meaningful quote is Miserable people saves more lives; if your life has a meaning your job doesn’t. Is this an excuse that House provides for himself and his chosen way of living? Does he actually believe in this? Is that why he tries to keep away from others and from happiness? To do his job the best he can? Is he- is he actually an altruistic person? Or maybe he just tries to sooth his persisting conscience with this lame excuse? Interesting. I wonder if this view of things will change. Actually, I hope it will, because otherwise it’s not a good sing for any Huddy action coming up (or for any other happy one, for that matter.).

And I really liked how PI has outsmarted House once more. He has shown him a different perspective on his experiment with Taub. Has shown him the actual weak point in his way of thinking about miserable people doing a better job. House prides himself to be able to see all angles to things, to be able to see everything from all different perspectives, thus he’s so often right. But PI has actually shown him that he’s not God, that he can’t predict everything. I begin to think that PI was not thrown here to make any stir in Huddy department. He’s actually here to help House see some things. Sometimes it’s better to have an outsider’s perspective. House is not alone he has a few people that cares for him: Wilson, Cuddy, Old Ducklings. But they are too close to him to see it all objectively. PI is not. He’s new to their little world, and he’s very observant and, what’s more, he’s accurate with his observation. He can provide new insights on all of House universe and that’s fascinating. I think that this is all a set up for later episodes. PI pointing the weak point in House’s reasoning, his mistakes or wrong doings is a way to make House rethink his life. If we look at the PI subplot through next episode when House loses his Dad, then this all might be a set up for Huddy.

OMG, what PI has said to House seems to have moved him. He looks like he actually regrets pushing Taub so much and playing with his private life. Interesting.

The scene in Clinic with Cuddy was so hilarious, great acting on Lisa’s part. Actually, the whole PI/Cuddy scene was so heartwarming and funny. I think I might be a little Cuddy/PI shipper. Of course House is the only man for our beloved Cuddy, but it’s good to see someone finally showing some appreciation to Cuddy (well normal one as House is showing his interest just in his usual way). And PI gave her roses. And I wonder why he had chosen white ones? Does he knows something? And if so, where would he has gain that information? Has he been snooping around her house or did her House ;) told him this? And speaking about PI poking around her house. She looked so freaked out when he told her he was in there last night! So funny! PI is love :D And you know what, I think that Cuddy actually has a soft spot for weirdness. PI is very creepy and weird and she seems to be flattered by him. And do we know another weird and creepy guy around Cuddy, that she actually helped quite a lot and kept near herself? *hint hint* :P I liked that someone has finally paid attention to Cuddy (a.k.a. healthy, normal one), but House has better hurry up or Cuddy will be taken from him.

I was so sure the Taubs dinner will end up in disaster. But it was so sweet of House’s wife! And OMG I felt so much for Taub in that moment! Great acting on Peter part. He felt so guilty for doubting her, and even guiltier for cheating on her. He seems to feel unworthy of his wife. It’s so clear they both love each other. I wonder if he was rethinking his way philosophy of not telling her the truth?

And that scene with Thirteen was shocking. Poor girl, but she can be a badass too; and good for punching the POTW I don’t like him.

I like that Taub is a strong character, not willing to take crap from House. He wanted him to apologize but was actually thrown aback by House doing so. It’s interesting that House seems to start realizing that his games might actually bring quite a lot of damage and harm. Yet I can’t forget that it’s all linked to House’s aversion to change, of course. He is comfortable with his new team and he doesn’t want to lose them (meaning a change in the environment) thus he tries to stop Taub form making a mistake by admitting the truth to his wife (just like PI has pointed to House this might have a negative consequences for House). Yet, at the same time I can’t stop thinking that House actually feels guilty for not considering how his actions my affect others. I think it’s actually a growing of his character here. Wow.

Another House/PI scene YAY! I laughed aloud when House found him in the closet. PI is such a creep :D And OMG! I’ve spent half my life negotiating with that woman. This means they had keep in touch almost all the time they had knew each other. What’s more they have always been sparring partners and still didn’t got tired of each other. Can I squee? Pretty, pretty, please? And I wonder to what he wants her to say yes? *wriggling eyebrows* Must. Take. Her. Mind. Out. Of. The. Gutter. ;P Anyway, we’ve got a challenge here! PI has challenged House on getting Cuddy! And House’s face was so freaked out! He’s truly troubled by this. OMG I love PI even more, he’s not only bring new insights of House but forcing the Huddy too. And they are sitting together on the couch like best buddies! I just realized I haven’t thought about Wilson even once watching this ep. PI is such an entertaining character. And Taub plotline was interesting too.

I found Taub way of reasoning that confessing the truth is a sign of selfishness as fascinating. It’s a complete opposition to mine (and House’s) yet I can see there is a method in this madness. I can see what he’s trying to say, but does he really believe in this?

Oh, Kutner and a defibrillator! Better hide somewhere safe :D:D:D

OMGOMGOMG! The photo! I laughed so hard seeing it. It must be a fake! No way House was a cheerleader. Cuddy would never believe this. Who comes up with this ideas? And we’ve another Cuddy/PI scene. There is that strange chemistry between them and I can’t help but liking those two. Oh, and we have a confirmation on Cuddy having a sister, I always thought it was a fanfiction thing.

And yes! I knew she wasn’t fooled by this photo, she just tried to play with him/them. I wonder if she tried to give the PI a chance or was she really trying to mess with House. And when he got up her face was so crestfallen! And then she smiled brilliantly at him. She really enjoys PI attention and company. So cute. House really should come up with something to get his woman back soon ;) Random thought: I just had a image of Caveman!House in my head. So funny!

Lol at the hallucination of Taub and Thirteen. It freaked me out to hear their voices but seeing some other people. Very good scene.

And I seriously thought we’re going to have a repetition of that episode from Season One with that boy and his cat Jules, the one that had the termites in his room and the toxin in his fat cells. I felt so dissapionted then, but I should know better then assume anything. The Powers-That-Be has never disappointed me so far with repetition of the plotline/idea.

The confession of the POTW was kinda flat to me. Actually the POTW plotline wasn’t that interesting. I liked how it tied with Taub and all, but it could have been cut off and I wouldn’t miss much.

And Chase! I really liked the editing of the scene with the operation and Taub looking at the paintings. And then Chase’s “Oh, well wake him up” was so hilarious! LOL And a bezoar! That was unexpected. Form Potterverse I thought only goats have bezoars. Alas I was wrong :) And it looked disgusting. Ew…

And Chase not allowing Cam to have a cat? Are they living together? Oh, good to know …not. I’d like to see more Chameron not some little tidbits thrown here and there. And why doesn’t he want to have a cat? I love cats (I have one myself). Chase you better change your mind ;) and on the side note I’d like to see House having a cat, not a fluffy kitty, more like old, temperamental one. Their dominance battles would be hilarious to watch.

I was so disappointed that Taub has decided to told his wife the truth and that he has chosen this moment to do so. She was so happy with giving him the car and he will ruin this moment for them both. But it’s interesting, that Taub has actually didn’t believe to what he was saying through this ep, that deep inside he knew it wasn’t good to lie to the person you love. It was all excuses for his behavior a.k.a. cheating. I wonder how it will turn out for him and his wife.

And the last scene! OMG I was so sure it was House playing on the piano and I wondered who had keys to his apartment and then it turns out it’s actually PI playing! I love the guy even more. And OMG.OMG.OMG.OMG! The photo was real! Seriously I died. House. Was. A. Cheerleader. I think I’m in a Twilight Zone or something. But it’s another interesting insight into his character. He decided to sacrifice his dignity for a girl. If there is someone he care deeply for he’s willing to sacrifice a lot. I wonder if he’ll sacrifice something for Cuddy. Maybe his comfortable way of living/vegetating? Wait-a-moment! He actually sacrificed his cool image, hoping Cuddy will see him in a different light. It’s a major step into the Huddy department. Wow.

And it really looks like there’s going to be a competition for Cuddy affections. So sorry this was not explored more in later eps. :( the House/Pi/Cuddy triangle sounded so promising…

And House and PI playing together! OMG, I fell in love with them. Let’s ditch Wilson and keep PI! You could play together some more and my heart will soar. Ok. Is that a rhyme>? I better not drink that beverage anymore… Anyway, at the end of this ep I actually felt like I don’t need Wilson anymore. But after seeing ‘Birthmarks’ and some Hilson scenes in ‘Lucky Thirteen’ I realized how I really missed little uncle Jimmy. I’m glad he’s back but I feel saddened that we won’t have PI anymore.

So here is another recap full of thoughts. One episode left, and then I can focus my full attention on “Joy”. :)
