OMG OMG JOHN SIMM AS THE MASTER! OMG! WHEEEEE!
I'm sure if I were an old school Whovian I'd be upset about something, but I'm one of those lame new schoolers (and an American to boot!) so I'm just simply and ridiculously excited to see John Simm as the Master. I'm halfway through Life on Mars and I love him. (Also I was surprised that I actually recognized who the Master regenerated into. I was dead sure it would be someone cool but that me, not being British, would have no clue. But I did! And it was exciting! I clapped and yelled!)
This episode was a good 50% action, 50% snark with 20% exposition overlapping in places. Aside from the silliness of Jack clinging to the Tardis and channeling emo Vader to yell "Doctooooooooooor!!!" basically everything worked.
Loved:
Jack and the Doctor snipping at each other. Jack and Martha gossiping, or as the Doctor put it, "blogging," which may be a use of that term he just invented.
Martha's "Hey, I know that voice!" about the regenerated Master. DUN DUN DUN. Looks like he's the Prime Minister? Hopefully we'll get some more about how timelines work, exactly...
Pretty much everything.
The Rose angst was at acceptable levels.
Now with macros! Seriously, ihasatardis is my new favorite community of ever.
