You stand in front of a doorway. Through it you see only blackness. Behind you is the well-lit familiarity of your home.
>GO THROUGH DOORWAY
You are standing in blackness. The light from your home is still behind you.
>GET FLASHLIGHT
You already have that.
>TURN ON FLASHLIGHT
You turn on your flashlight. It casts light a few feet into the darkness.
>GO RIGHT
You cannot do that at this time.
>GO FORWARD
You cannot do that at this time.
>GO LEFT
You cannot do that at this time.
>FUCK
You cannot do that at this time.
>GO RIGHT
You go right. A corridor opens into a large room.
>WTF?! WHY COULDN’T I GO RIGHT BEFORE?
There is no answer.
>YOU SUCK
Around you the large room seems to be growing increasingly larger.
>LOOK AROUND
It is very black.
>GO FORWARD
You pass into another corridor. There are several ways to go.
>WHICH WAYS?
There is no answer.
>CHECK TIME
You have been in here five and a half minutes.
>CHECK DIRECTION
DNE.
>LEAVE MARKER
You place a bright neon arrow on the floor, pointing towards the direction you came from.
>EAT POWERBAR
It tastes ashy.
>GO FORWARD
You travel into a giant hall. The ceiling above you is invisible in the darkness. There is a doorway at the far end.
>GO TO DOORWAY
You cross the hall to the doorway.
>LOOK THROUGH DOORWAY
Beyond the doorway is darkness.
>FREAK OUT
You have a mild panic attack. You feel a cold terror that something lurks behind you.
>LOOK BEHIND
There is nothing there.
>GO THROUGH DOORWAY
You are at the top of a spiral staircase.
>LOOK DOWN STAIRS
Your light cannot reach the bottom.
>DROP QUARTER
You wait several minutes but hear nothing. A distant growl echoes through the hallway.
>FREAK OUT
You hyperventilate slightly.
>DRINK TINY BOOZE
You drink a small bottle of bourbon. You feel slightly dizzy.
>SIT DOWN
You sit on the top step.
>THROW BOTTLE DOWN STAIRS
You hear a crash as the bottle breaks at the bottom of the stairs.
>GO DOWN STAIRS
You travel down the staircase for several minutes. You reach a landing. To your right is a doorway. In front of you the staircase continues down.
>GO THROUGH DOORWAY
You are in a hallway. There is a door at the end.
Etc. Etc. God, how much do I not want to figure out this House of the Seven Gables presentation? So much!
