Priceless test response

Boy, could I write a book with some of these test responses. Here's another of my student's responses.

Background info: Students studied the heating and cooling rates of soil and water, discovering that soil takes up and releases heat faster than water. They also discovered that water takes up and releases heat much slower. (Well, I guess I hope that's what they learned!) On the test, they had a graph of a solid heating and cooling, except it didn't say that it was a solid. This had to be determined based on the rate of heating and cooling shown on the graph.

Test question: Explain your reasons for stating that the graph represents a liquid or a solid being heated and cooled.

Student response:

"There is no way a car can drive in liquid or solid. But not all cars can't do that."
