Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome is an uncommon, unexplained disorder of children and some adults that was first described by Dr. S. Gee in 1882. The condition is characterized by recurrent, prolonged attacks of sever nausea, vomiting and prostration with no apparent cause. Vomiting occurs at frequent intervals (5-10 times an hour at the peak) for hours to 10 days (1-4 most commonly). The child is very pale and resists talking. There is often intense abdominal pain and less often headache, low-grade fever and diarrhea. Prolonged vomiting may cause mild bleeding from irritation of the esophagus. Patients often describe being 'possessed', out of control and stuporous. A contious coma. The symptoms are frightening to the child and family and can be life-threatening due to dehydration and electrolyte imbalance.
CVS hit me again. This time I wasn"t in the hospital as long as before. Four days this time. I can't explain how horrible it is for this to come over you. To know that no one can help you no matter how hard they try. Veins collapse because you are poked so many times. I look like a herion junkie with all of the brusies and scabs on my arms from IV's and when they drew blood. (almost every hour) My weight is the lowest it has ever been and I still feel so weak. I shouldn't complain because it's over, for now. It is so hard not knowing when or if it will happen again. It didn't happen for three years and for some reason, came back.
fuck.
I give up.
