[255: BOO! How would you go about scaring someone?]
Henry is pressed against him; Peter has his arm wrapped around his shoulders to keep him from pouncing prematurely. He can feel the suppressed giggles shake the little boy’s entire body and in the dark he can image that Henry is biting down on his lip. He knows the little boy has both hands clamped over his mouth and a couple of times he leans down to whisper in Henry’s ear and remind him to breathe. The red headed two year old is by far the most excited of the two but that excitement is contagious and Peter can’t help the crooked grin that’s loping across his face.
“Okay on the count of three,” he whispers in Henry’s ear and he can feel the child nod his head against Peter’s chest.
Their damsel in distress is already in the room just beyond the closet door; cracked open to allow Peter and Henry to see Sasha walking back and forth in the bedroom. She’s unnecessarily straightening the pillows on the bed so Peter knows she’s heard the suspect giggles the closet has begun making.
“One.”
He can feel Henry tense up against him.
“Two”
The little boy catches and holds his breath.
“Three”
They both burst from the closet.
“BOO!”
Sasha reacts appropriately, gasping and giving a B movie scream that confuses Tex (after all it’s just Peter and Henry) and makes Henry erupt into giggles.
“Sashy scared?” He’s already crawling up into her arms, bare feet using her legs for leverage to help her lift him to her hip.
“So scared,” Sasha confirms, her dimples peeking out and destroying the serious face she’s trying to give Henry. She winks at Peter and kisses the top of Henry’s head. “You’re a very scary monster, Henry.”
“S’okay. Sleep wif Pete. He scarier,” Henry declares.
That makes Peter chuckle and he shrugs. “Henry was going to scare you himself but there’s a monster in a our closet but lucky for Henry and you, he’s no match for me.”
